The application of distributed multi-sensor information fusion technology in accurate positioning of Underwater Vehicle was introduced in this paper.According to the system structure of Distributed multi-sensor in an AUV "T1",this article establishes the Kalman filtering mathematical model,accomplishes the fusion algorithm based on Kalman filtering and a numerical simulation.The experimental result shows that the application of fusion algorithm based on Kalman filtering can avoid the limitations of a single sensor,reduce its uncertainty impact and increase the confidence level of data.

The vehicle dynamics models which have integrated electric power steering (EPS) and active suspension system (ASS) were built,the integrated LQG (Linear-Quadratic Gaussian)controller which adopts centralized structure was designed,computer simulations were carded out with the MATLAB/Simulink software.The simulation results showed that the LQG controller could not only apparently filter sensor measurement noise influencing the integrated systems,but also effectively improve vehicle handing stability and steering portability.

Tumorspheres were isolated from core biopsies collected from five patients with clinical diagnosis of invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC). Isolated tumorspheres were transplanted into the mammary fat pad of NUDE mice to establish tumorigenicity in vivo. At 3 months post-injection, micrometastases to the lung, liver, kidneys, brain and femur were detected by measuring content of human chromosome 17. Primary tumors variably expressed cytokeratins, Her2/neu, cytoplasmic E-cadherin, nuclear catenin and fibronectin but were negative for ER and vimentin. The injection of bone marrow isolated from mice previously injected with tumorspheres into the mammary fat pad, resulted in large tumor formation in the mammary fat pad 2 months post-injection. The tumors exhibited accelerated development of metastatic lesions within the lung, liver and kidney. The resultant tumors and the majority of metastatic lesions within the lung and liver exhibited a mesenchymal-like phenotype. Conclusions: Micrometastases in mouse organs demonstrated a dormancy period prior to outgrowth of macrometastases. Dormant disseminated tumor cells (DTCs) within the bone marrow were highly malignant upon injection into the mammary fat pad, with the accelerated development of metastatic lesions. These results indicate the acquisition of a more aggressive phenotype of DTCs during metastatic latency within the bone marrow microenvironment.

Mechanically flexible and one-dimensional electronic interconnects are nowadays a standard, enabling various applications, and offering a wide range of advantages. Taking planar one-dimensional flexible systems onto the next level of high-speed and high performance electronic systems, various efforts on connecting rigid integrated circuits (ICs), e.g. microcontrollers, batteries, sensors, actuators etc., to flexible interconnects exist. In this work, a comprehensive surface mount technology (SMT) for rigid and silicon dioxide based ICs onto flexible and glycol-modified Polyethylene Terephthalate screen-printed interconnects is developed. Here, the SMT solution addresses the following challenges: low thermal budget of Polyethylene Terephthalate, non-solderability of the screen-printed structures, aluminum coating of the IC, and small-sized pitches of the IC. Besides, various reliability aspects of the assembled electrical end product are investigated.

This test was conducted as part of the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Independent Testing project. This project was established to help reduce the barriers of wind energy expansion by providing independent testing results for small turbines. Several turbines were selected for testing at the National Wind Technology Center (NWTC) at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) as a part of the Small Wind Turbine Independent Testing project. Duration testing is one of up to five tests that may be performed on the turbines. Other tests include safety and function, power performance, acoustic noise, and power quality. Viryd Technologies, Inc. of Austin, Texas, was the recipient of the DOE grant and provided the turbine for testing.

Digital hardware frontend specification is defined by two extremes - RTL specification and HLS specification. RTL specification produces highly optimized designs, but requires extremely verbose low level specification on the part of the designer. On the other hand, HLS specification requires much less verbose high level specification from the designer, but does not produce well optimized designs. In this thesis, I present a middle ground that captures the pros of these two extremes - a system in which the designer specifies a basic datapath and uses a tool to automatically apply optimizations to that basic datapath.

Mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) co-occur at a high rate in Soldiers and Veterans. Despite this, there is a paucity of evidence-based treatments for those dealing with mTBI/PTSD symptoms and their exacerbation by stress. Using a placebo-controlled, randomized, blinded design, the current study is testing the following hypothesis: active acupressure (more than Placebo) will reduce the adverse effects of stress in Veterans with co-occurring mTBI/PTSD, which will be evident in measures of anxiety, perceived stress, distress, psychiatric health, memory and in a laboratory stress task. Veterans have been recruited since regulatory approval was obtained (August 2012) and enrolled in the study in an ongoing manner, with several having already completed the study protocol or being in process. Because the study is ongoing, there are no data to report as of yet. The findings of the present study hold significant military significance: a safe, portable, low-cost, efficacious and accessible treatment strategy would benefit Veterans, family members and the military/VA health care systems. Results of the ongoing study will determine if acupressure is such a treatment strategy.

With the push towards siting wind turbines in deeper water, floating offshore wind turbines are becoming an economically attractive option. The International Electrotechnical Commissions (IEC) 61400-3 design standard covers fixed-bottom offshore wind turbines, but there are a number of new research questions that need to be answered to modify these standards so that they are applicable to floating wind turbines. One issue is the appropriate simulation length needed for floating turbines. This paper will discuss the results from a study assessing the impact of simulation length on the ultimate and fatigue loads of the structure, and will address uncertainties associated with changing the simulation length for the analyzed floating platform. Recommendations of required simulation length based on load uncertainty will be made and compared to current simulation-length requirements.
