3D reconstruction is the process of creating a computer model of the 3D image of an object from twodimensional images. 3D object reconstruction finds various applications in the real world. Reconstruction allows to gain information about qualitative features of the object, which cannot be deduced from a single plane of sight. 3D reconstruction can be used in art analysis and restoration, phenotype analysis, film, and game graphics, design, and criminal investigations, among others. 3D reconstruction techniques enable users to design product at each stage of its development, eventually reducing the overall production cost by a considerable margin. Such wide range of applications across the end-user industries and the commercial application projections have been the prominent factors prompting vendors to invest in technology developments. The advent of deep learning techniques and the increasing availability of large training data sets is leading to a new generation of methods that can recover the 3D geometry and structure of objects, either from one or several RGB images, without using any complex camera calibration process. The image-based 3D reconstruction is an impor tant problem and a building block to several applications, ranging from autonomous navigation and robotics to graphics and enter tainment. Some of the applications deal with generic objects, while some deal with objects that belong to specific classes, such as the human body parts (e.g. faces and hands), animals, and automobile. The recent advancements in geometrically correct 3D intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) reconstruction enabled the depiction of the true coronary anatomy, with the combination of IVUS data with biplane angiographic images. Additionally, fur ther advancements of the 3D IVUS reconstruction software, in conjunction with the advancement in hardware capabilities, are expected to enable the implementation of real-time 3D IVUS reconstruction within the catheterization laboratories. This is expected to aid the market’s growth.

Europe is one of the largest regions in the global industrial starches market, producing over 600 products, from native starches to physically or chemically modified starches, through to liquid and solid sweeteners. According to the European Starch Industry Association, in 2018, the total starch production in Europe from EU wheat, maize, and potatoes stood at 10.7 million metric ton in comparison to the 8.7 million metric ton in 2004. The European Starch Industry Association is the trade association and its membership comprises 28 EU starch producing companies, together representing more than 95% of the EU starch industry. Wheat is the primary feedstock for starch production, followed by corn and potato. Specialties, like green pea, rice, or chickpea, are still minimal and only account for less than 0.5% in the European market. More importantly, growing number of starch manufacturers are investing in the starch and sweeteners market in Europe to support the local economy and local community, while positioning the business for long-term growth.

X-ray technology has been commonly associated with the healthcare and R&D sectors for several years. However, in recent times, technology has expanded into the manufacturing environments, which is helping several end-user industries improve the quality of production. Additionally, with the evolution of digital X-ray variants, the price of equipment and operations has considerably gone down, enabling the rapid adoption of X-ray technologies in the manufacturing environments. Some of the initial industries that pioneered the use of X-ray inspection for quality control include the aerospace and defense and semiconductor industries. The innovation of in-line computed tomography (CT) systems was one of the greatest innovations that led to rapid expansion of X-ray inspection technologies in the manufacturing space. One of the first models of inline X-ray systems were introduced in 2010, by North Star Imaging. At present, in-line CTs have become an industry standard for many automotive manufacturers, electronics manufacturers, and several semiconductor industries, where quality control/assurance is the point of focus for physical testing and evaluation of finished products and raw materials. When North Star Imaging first launched its product, it was claimed as one of the fastest systems of that time, which completed an entire scan in under six seconds.

Flexible electronics have gained huge popularity with the growing number of applications, including wearables. Also, the advent of flexible batteries and the growing use of flexible sensors in smart packaging and tracking applications are expected to encourage the development of the global flexible electronics market throughout the forecast period. Additionally, the growing research and development and innovations in the market are likely to drive the overall market. Flexible electronics have evolved significantly over the last decade. Today, it is possible to create flexible electronics fibers that stretch to over 1,000% of their original length as against of around 70% in 2008, while maintaining their conductivity. These semiconductors have become stretchier, smaller, and thinner, which has expanded the potential of flexible electronics. Flexible technology fabricates transistors using organic materials that replace the silicon and hard ceramic materials with soft, carbon-based materials. These high-performance organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs) can be processed at temperatures lower than 100°C, allowing the use of lowercost thin-film substrates, thus enabling flexible devices. According to BNP Media, by 2030, electronics content will account for 50% of an automobile’s total production cost. Earlier this decade, it was only 30%. Progress in thin, light, and flexible electronics is behind a range of innovative technologies, from curved TVs to glucose-monitoring contact lenses. This can lead to the growth of printable solar cells and flexible screens using organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs).
