This paper proposes a sm art domestic gateway used to manage power consumption,which realizes the interoperability across wireless sensor network (WSN),Wi-Fi and Internet.This system achieves smart home power consumption management.The implementation of hardware and software of the gateway has been explained in detail.

The increasing incidence of obesity and Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) confers significant burden on the US civilian and military healthcare system. It is hypothesized that the risk of future obesity and T2D can be mitigated by targeted interventions during early adulthood which are based on individual biological variability (e.g., personalized medicine using genetic biomarkers).

This chapter has presented the background to power system dynamics, as appropriate for use in a modelling study of a power system. The complexities of the models depend on the type of transient and the system being investigated. Since we are mostly concerned about the frequency control of the power system, more effort has been placed on the active power flow in the system. Generally, the components of the power system that influence the electrical torque include the network state before and after the transient, the loads and their characteristics, the synchronous generator, the speed governor and other supplementary controls such as tie-line power flows.

Data management in data aware self-organizing networks (DASNs) such as wireless sensor networks (WSNs), mobile ad hoc networks (MANBTs) and so on, whose fundamental paradigm is data aware computing, is currently on the spot as one of the priority research areas and research activities are booming recently. At a borderline of changing DASN configuration, data evolve over time. Thus investigating data awareness emerges as a need, on the one hand, for managing data in DASNs, but on the other hand, for modeling, specifying, programming, and verifying DASNs. Moreover, a well-established foundation of data aware computing in such self-organizing networks becomes a requirement. Hence in this paper, we first construct algebraic models for DASNs. Second, algebraic model of data streams is developed and quantitative behaviors for data streams in DASNs are computed. Third, using algebraic models for DASNs we form monoids of data aware self-organizations and shape streams of data aware self-organizations. Finally, a category of data aware self-organizations monoids is established and streams of data aware self-organizations monoids are considered.

A new method of implementing frequency invariant beamformers based on cubic spline function is presented.Based on the frequency,the sensor distance of the virtual array is generated.The virtual array output is formed from the sensor array by cubic spline function interpolation.The beamformers of every frequency bins in the bandwidth of the signal is similar to that of the referenced frequency.The method is simple and easy to implement.Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the method.

The development of a novel and inexpensive sensor network for detecting the electrostatic field (ESF) of a charged bullet was explored in this paper. The principle method used to measure the ESF of the passing object was based on a voltage-controlled variable capacitance. This method utilized a varactor pair and sinusoidal input signal to produce a significant change in voltage proportional to the minute change in capacitance caused by the passing object's ESF. A wired network was used to propagate the measurements to a central data acquisition unit (DAQ). The DAQ processed the data from the senor array. The results from the DAQ report the passing objects coordinated in relation to the designated central location. This paper describes the sensors, and presents results using measured (live-fire) data.

Nowadays CO2 laser has been regarded as the effective treatment methods of different kinds of cosmetology and dermatologic surgery. The second-degree scald is of frequent occurrence in people, but many methods on treat the second-degree scald are not good enough. Therefore, the process of second degree scald skin irradiated by the CO2 laser was monitored in the study. The second-degree scald of mice models were divided into two groups in order to contrastively observe the effect of CO2 laser on treating scald. Skin detector associating with the histopathologic examination were used to observe the changes of skin texture and pathologic morphology structure. Meanwhile the healing time was recorded about the two groups. The texture of skin surface irradiated CO2 laser was more glossy and distinct after healing, and the healing time was much faster as well. It was good agreement between skin detector images and histopathological architecture.

This chapter presents a review of the main application areas of high performance computing in electrical energy systems and introduces some results obtained with the implementation of parallel computing to some relevant problems encountered in the planning, operation and control of such systems. The research topics described in the paper are optimization of hydrothermal systems operation, tunning of multiple power system stabilizers, security constrained optimal power flow, composite reliability evaluation, dynamic security assessment, and distribution network reconfiguration. Most of the work described includes results obtained with tests conducted using actual models of electrical energy systems.

Effects of solvent types and extraction methods were investigated for effective recovery of fatty oils from Fructus Leonuri fruit.Among the five solvents tested,dichloromethane gave the highest recovery with Soxhlet extract ion (SE),and ethanol gave the highest recovery with microwave assisted extraction (MAE).In addition,the fatty oil content of the MAE extract was found to be only slightly lower than that of SE,but MAE was shown to permit comparable extract ion efficiency with 30 fold reduction in extraction time and 2 fold reduction in solvent consumption.
