  • 3201.智能交通系统中视频检测数据归责的建模方法比较

    Gaps in real-time and archived traffic data are common and can be attributed to several factors, such as sensor failures and data communications interruptions. Regardless of the cause of the missing data, these gaps often must be filled with reliable and accurate estimates before the data can be used for planning, operations, or congestion-mitigation purposes. This research compared different methods for imputing missing values in video detection system data, including historical averages, simple linear regression, multiple linear regression, spatial averages, and Newell's simplified kinematic wave model. The study used the fundamental relationship between speed and flow in filtering the data for quality control. A sensitivity analysis tested the response of different methods to factors such as the size of training data set and time-of-day adjustments to the algorithms. The results indicated that the time of day and volume adjustment factors had a nontrivial impact on the accuracy of the outputs. Despite significant errors in the base data set, the Newell algorithm performed on a par with the other methods in terms of bias and mean absolute percentage, but the more simple factoring methods provided comparable results and were easier to implement.

    Technical challenges exist with infrastructure that can be addressed by nondestructive evaluation (NDE) methods, such as detecting corrosion damage to reinforcing steel that anchor concrete bridge railings to bridge road decks. Moisture and chloride ions reach the anchors along the cold joint between the rails and deck, causing corrosion that weakens the anchors and ultimately the barriers.

  • 3203.增强认知康复以治疗脑外伤和创伤后应激障碍共患

    This study is a randomized trial of a hybrid treatment for Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans with a history of mild to moderate TBI (mTBI) and PTSD. Emotional symptoms are likely a main cause of the persistence of post- concussive symptoms while thinking problems and emotional control problems associated with mTBI can impede recovery from PTSD. However, there is no PTSD treatment specifically designed to accommodate the difficulties with attention, memory, and problem solving that patients with TBI may have. Therefore, this study integrates therapeutic approaches and tests a modification of cognitive processing therapy (CPT), an empirically supported treatment for PTSD, in which CPT is enhanced with compensatory cognitive rehabilitation principles. The enhanced CPT, called SMART-CPT is being compared to standard CPT in a group of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans with a history of both mTBI and PTSD. Half of the participants are randomly assigned to receive standard CPT and half to receive SMART-CPT. This year was dedicated to study start up, including regulatory approvals and treatment manual development. Initial recruitment and enrollment of participants began in the final quarter of the year; six Veterans are currently enrolled and active in the protocol. There is no data to report at this time.

    The U.S. military is currently fitting amputees with state-of-the- art prosthetic devices. In addition to walking and changing direction on a variety of surfaces, amputees must be able to manage uneven terrain, crowded environments, stairs, ramps, and hills. The largest problem for a lower extremity amputee is falls. Among individuals with a lower extremity amputation, 52reported having fallen in the previous 12 months, 49reported being fearful of falling, and 65had low balance confidence scores. Falling history and balance confidence are associated with reduced mobility capability and social activity. As a result, lower extremity amputees with limited balance and stability are at risk for diminished quality of life. The goal of this research effort is to rehabilitate lower extremity amputees to reduce falls using a novel training method. In this first year of the research effort, we have developed a novel experimental method to induce unexpected trips to amputees under controlled laboratory conditions. We have identified objective biomechanical variables that are causally related to the success or failure in avoiding a fall after a trip, objective tests to quantify functional outcomes, and a subject-specific questionnaire to determine if the training method is effective. Enrollment has begun. Our target is to deliver a quantitatively derived, deployment-ready, advanced gait rehabilitation system that can improve functional outcomes and/or shorten the time required for injured servicemen and women to return to active duty or to a productive civilian life.

    The HHE Program evaluated potential exposure of employees and volunteers to zoonotic diseases at a marine mammal rescue and rehabilitation center. Zoonotic diseases are those that can be transmitted from animals to humans. Investigators with the HHE Program observed work practices and personal protective equipment use and found that some practices may lead to a higher risk of exposure to zoonotic diseases. Employees and volunteers were given a survey and blood tests to look for evidence of past infection. Among the 213 participants, little evidence was found of past infection with the organisms that cause leptospirosis, brucellosis, or Q fever. Air, surface, and bulk dust samples were collected for C. burnetti, the bacterium that causes Q fever; all but one of 130 samples was negative. A ventilation assessment showed that the biological safety cabinet in the laboratory did not have enough airflow so investigators recommended that the employer have this cabinet certified yearly and ensure that it meets minimum flow requirements. Investigators also found that when the harbor seal area ventilation system was turned on air flowed from the intensive care unit to other areas of the building. Investigators recommended that harbor seal pups not be housed in the intensive care unit if they are suspected of having Q fever. Instead they should be housed outside and isolated from other harbor seal pups. Investigators recommended that the carpet in the triage building be removed and replaced with a nonporous surface. Investigators noted that some employees and volunteers were not wearing the correct personal protective equipment and recommended that the employer provide initial training and refresher training for all employees and volunteers on hand washing, proper personal protective equipment use, and the risk of infection. Employees were encouraged to (1) wash their hands after exposure to animals or animal areas even if they were wearing gloves, (2) not wear personal protective equipment in areas where people eat or drink, (3) report signs of possible zoonotic infection to their supervisor, and (4) to tell their healthcare provider about their duties and exposures to marine mammals. The employer was encouraged to post signs about hand washing.

    Three areas emerged where the PTSD/mTBI participants showed strengths in executive control functions: (1) overriding conflicting response cues in a flanker task, (2) overcoming proactive interference in working memory (suppressing material that is no longer relevant), and (3) stopping a motor response that was already planned. These strengths are closely related to other executive functions that were weaker in the PTSD/mTBI participants. They showed pronounced deficits in (1) motor response inhibition, (2) consistency in responding, and (3) control over emotional reactions to trauma reminders. Although they were not uniformly impaired in multitasking, the patients showed behavioral and electrophysiological deficits in working memory retrieval that became apparent only when they performed a secondary task during the delay interval. Ultimately, these types of dissociations are informative for demonstrating that PTSD/mTBI can spare some important cognitive abilities. These strengths could be exploited in future developments of psychotherapy and cognitive rehabilitation techniques.

    Polymer-Electrolyte-Fuel-Cells (PEFCs) are promising candidates for powering vehicles and portable devices using renewable-energy sources. The core of a PEFC is the solid electrolyte membrane that conducts protons from anode to cathode, where water is generated. The conductivity of the membrane, however, depends on the water content of the membrane, which is strongly related to the cell operating conditions. The membrane and other cell components are typically compressed to minimize various contact resistances. Moreover, the swelling of a somewhat constrained membrane in the cell due to the humidity changes generates additional compressive stresses in the membrane. These external stresses are balanced by the internal swelling pressure of the membrane and change the swelling equilibrium. It was shown using a fuel-cell setup that compression could reduce the water content of the membrane or alter the cell resistance.

    The VA Office of Inspector General Office of Healthcare Inspections conducted an inspection of the Pueblo Community Living Center (CLC), in Pueblo, CO, which is operated by the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System, located in Denver, CO. The purpose of the inspection was to determine the validity of allegations regarding CLC resident abuse and reporting irregularities. We did not substantiate the allegation of resident abuse. We did not substantiate the allegation that staff attempted to cover up an allegation of abuse or that staff who report potential abuse are retaliated against; however, we found staff did not report allegations of abuse as required by VHA and local policies, and did not track or trend incidents such as bruises and skin tears of unknown origin in order to identify potential abuse patterns. We recommended that the system Director ensures all Associate Chiefs of Nursing and CLC staff are retrained on the requirements for reporting allegations of abuse and that procedures to report, log, track, trend, and analyze injuries of unknown origin at the CLC are developed.

  • 3210.平面固体氧化物燃料电池的研究与开发

    Numerical simulation capabilities to perform flowfield analysis and sensitivity analysis of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) have been developed. A three-dimensional, implicit, multi-species fuel cell solver is modified to analyze cell geometries supplied by NexTech Materials (NexTech). Four different NexTech cell configurations of varying complexities have been analyzed in this study. A capability to perform thermo-mechanical analysis of NexTech cells is developed by coupling the fuel cell code with the structures code. The capability was initially developed for a simplified cell that also included sensitivity analysis of thermo-mechanical variables. Sensitivity derivatives are computed using the direct differentiation method in the fuel cell and structures codes.
