  • 3101.年度放射性废物罐检验计划-2011

    Aqueous radioactive wastes from Savannah River Site (SRS) separations and vitrification processes are contained in large underground carbon steel tanks. Inspections made during 2011 to evaluate these vessels and other waste handling facilities along with evaluations based on data from previous inspections are the subject of this report. The 2011 inspection program revealed that the structural integrity and waste confinement capability of the Savannah River Site waste tanks were maintained. All inspections scheduled per SRR-LWE-2011-00026, HLW Tank Farm Inspection Plan for 2011, were completed. Ultrasonic measurements (UT) performed in 2011 met the requirements of C-ESR-G-00006, In-Service Inspection Program for High Level Waste Tanks, Rev. 3, and WSRC-TR-2002-00061, Rev.6. UT inspections were performed on Tanks 25, 26 and 34 and the findings are documented in SRNL-STI-2011-00495, Tank Inspection NDE Results for Fiscal Year 2011, Waste Tanks 25, 26, 34 and 41. A total of 5813 photographs were made and 835 visual and video inspections were performed during 2011. A potential leaksite was discovered at Tank 4 during routine annual inspections performed in 2011. The new crack, which is above the allowable fill level, resulted in no release to the environment or tank annulus. The location of the crack is documented in C-ESR-G-00003, SRS High Level Waste Tank Leaksite Information, Rev.6.

    This lighting system is a versatile remote control for stadiums smart lighting application.This paper describes the design of a high-brightness LED system,which demonstrates wireless communication using Freescale's MC13213 device,high-brightness LED dimming control using Freescale's MM908E625 and the 3-axis acceleration sensor MMA7260QT from Freescale.Advantages of using LED lighting are a long operating life,no fragile glass,no mercury,and low-voltage DC operation.In the system,each wireless part communicates over the RF medium using the freely available software stack SMAC from Freescale.At last,the paper analysis the dimming and itensity of the smart lighting system.

  • 3103.近距离传感器数据枪口运动的基本计算方法

    A new method to process muzzle displacement transducer data has been developed and demonstrated on 5.56 and 40 mm weapon systems. The method allows much more flexibility in the placement of the measurement probes in a test fixture with no loss in measurement fidelity. The method also allows measurements to be taken with as few as two probes per axial measurement location, whereas previously used techniques required four probes.

  • 3104.自动视频分析和机载传感器数据分析技术的倾斜和偏航轨迹测量对比

    This report is a comparison between a newly developed method and a well proven analysis process to measure the pitch and yaw behavior of an artillery projectile following cannon launch. In the new method, launch video is processed using automated computer-vision algorithms to estimate a projectile's orientation history in the interval of video coverage. For the experiments covered by this report, this interval extended from the muzzle to approximately 70 80 m downrange. The accuracy of the method's results is validated by comparing them to results obtained from processing of high- fidelity onboard measurements using the vectoring technique known as Projectile Orientation In Navigation TERms (POINTER). From this evaluation, it is shown that the automated video analysis method is correctly measuring the epicyclic motion of the projectile during the portion of flight captured by the video (first two nutation cycles). Included in the report is a general introduction of both analysis methods, as well as a brief overview of other techniques used by aeroballisticians to characterize the flight mechanics of artillery projectiles. The limits and advantages of the various methods are discussed, and future research efforts to improve results and overcome some of the shortcomings of the automated video method are identified.

  • 3105.2区间模糊隶属函数生成代表样本数据的方法

    Type-2 fuzzy sets (T2 FSs) have been shown to manage uncertainty more effectively than type-1 fuzzy sets (T1 FSs) in several areas of engineering. However, computing with T2 FSs can require an undesirably large amount of computations since it involves numerous embedded T2 FSs. To reduce the complexity, interval type-2 fuzzy sets (IT2 FSs) can be used, since the secondary memberships are all equal to one. In this chapter, three novel interval type-2 fuzzy membership function (IT2 FMF) generation methods are proposed. The methods are based on heuristics, histograms, and interval type-2 fuzzy C-means (IT2 FCM). For each method, the footprint of uncertainty (FOU) is only required to be obtained, since the FOU can completely describe an IT2 FMF. The performance of the methods is evaluated by applying them to back-propagation neural networks (BPNNs). Experimental results for several data sets are given to show the effectiveness of the proposed membership assignments.

  • 3106.手持探地雷达传感器系统对于地雷探测的压缩传感应用

    This paper investigates the implementation of compressive sensing (CS) for handheld GPR sensor system for landmine detection. The system collects GPR data in random and sparse spatial positions, resulting in the limited resolution of the GPR image. Compressive sensing which is widely known to be able to reconstruct sparse information from limited number of measurements is applied for this system. In this study, we present landmine detection by model based CS that exploit the physical characteristic of the landmine in CS processing. The performance is evaluated using real data sets acquired in a landmine field in Cambodia. The results show that the model based CS is able to give better visualization of a buried PMN-2 landmine compared to the conventional CS processing. It is also observed that the accuracy of the block sparsity level, which is the estimation of how many targets exist in the area, is an important factor for the correct image reconstruction by the model based CS.

    Since the start of the 20th century, average annual temperatures across the contiguous United States have increased approximately 1.5 F (0.8 C) (NOAA 2013b, EPA 2012a). Recent weather conditions are no exception to this trend. July 2012 was the hottest month in the United States since record keeping began in 1895, and 2012 was the warmest year overall, marked by historic high temperatures and droughts, above average wildfires, multiple intense storms that disrupted power to millions, and multiple extreme heat waves (NOAA 2013c). More than 60of the country experienced drought during the summer of 2012, including some areas of exceptional drought (NOAA 2013c, NOAA 2012c). These trends, which are expected to continue (NOAA 2013b, IPCC 2012, USGCRP 2009), could restrict the supply of secure, sustainable, and affordable energy critical to the nation s economic growth. At least three major climate trends are relevant to the energy sector: Increasing air and water temperatures Decreasing water availability in some regions and seasons Increasing intensity and frequency of storm events, flooding, and sea level rise This report part of the Administration s efforts to support national climate change adaptation planning through the Interagency Climate Change Adaptation Task Force and Strategic Sustainability Planning process established under Executive Order 13514 and to advance the U.S. Department of Energy s goal of promoting energy security examines current and potential future impacts of these climate trends on the U.S. energy sector. It identifies activities underway to address these challenges and discusses potential opportunities to enhance energy technologies that are more climate-resilient, as well as information, stakeholder engagement, and policies and strategies to further enable their deployment.

    The energy development assumptions identified in the Department of Energy's position paper, 20Wind Energy by 2030, projected an exploding demand for wind energy-related workforce development. These primary assumptions drove a secondary set of assumptions that early stage wind industry workforce development and training paradigms would need to undergo significant change if the workforce needs were to be met. The current training practice and culture within the wind industry is driven by a relatively small number of experts with deep field experience and knowledge. The current training methodology is dominated by face-to-face, classroom based, instructor present training. Given these assumptions and learning paradigms, the purpose of the National Wind Distance Learning Collaborative was to determine the feasibility of developing online learning strategies and products focused on training wind technicians. The initial project scope centered on (1) identifying resources that would be needed for development of subject matter and course design/delivery strategies for industry-based (non-academic) training, and (2) development of an appropriate Learning Management System (LMS). As the project unfolded, the initial scope was expanded to include development of learning products and the addition of an academic-based training partner. The core partners included two training entities, industry-based Airstreams Renewables and academic-based Lake Area Technical Institute. A third partner, Vision Video Interactive, Inc. provided technology-based learning platforms (hardware and software).

    In order to obtain maximum battery lifetime and efficient operation, rechargeable batteries require unique charging profiles with an end-state, low current trickle charge. The series loaded resonant (SLR) charging system presented in this thesis meets the needs of an efficient, sensor integrated, and galvanically isolated trickle charger. The SLR DC-DC converter was successfully modeled in Simulink, and simulation results are verified in a laboratory application. The Simulink model and hardware are tested at several operating points. Component stresses are quantified and weak points are identified.

    This report is intended to provide offshore wind industry stakeholders a basis for evaluating potential cost saving installation, operation, and maintenance (IO&M) strategies and technologies. The work was completed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and its subcontractor, the Energy Research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN), in fulfillment of a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) contract for subtopic 5.3: Optimized Installation, Operation, and Maintenance Strategies under topic 5: Optimized Infrastructure and Operations of Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) number DE-FOA-0000414, entitled U.S. Offshore Wind: Removing Market Barriers. For stakeholders carrying out project-specific evaluations of IO&M approaches presented herein, several related studies also conducted under this FOA will serve as valuable resources on specific aspects of offshore wind development infrastructure including ports, vessels, and supply chain parameters.
