In this project, we focus on oxidation and glycosylation PTMs on proteins known to be secreted by the breast as candidate biomarkers for the early detection of breast cancer. ELISA microarray technology has employed to evaluate assays that have potential be used as breast cancer biomarkers. During the third year of this project we have continued the validation for our PTM- ELISA microarray. And we validated the chosen PTM antibody for pre-clinical or translational molecular imaging studies. The microPET imaging suggested that those PTM antibodies have high specific accumulation for breast cancer in tumor xenograft mice. Overall, our data suggest that the PTM ELISA microarray platform is a promising tool for discovery and evaluation of biomarkers that have potential for the early detection of breast cancer.

This report describes a level shifter with crowbar current suppression is proposed to achieve simultaneously high switching speed and low power dissipation for high-voltage transducer driving. Together with buffer circuitry, the circuit is able to handle loads up to 100 pF efficiently with frequency above 10 MHz, which makes the circuit favorable for high voltage transducers application such as ultrasonic imaging.

In this paper we describe a perceptual model that accounts for the time-varying changes to perceived color and brightness that occur due to time-varying adaptation and the transition between cone- and rod-mediated vision. Given a multispectral, high-dynamic-range image of a scene and the viewer's current adaptive state, this model produces a low-dynamic-range image that, when viewed photopically, creates a perception similar to what would have been experienced by the viewer in the original scene. When applied to a video sequence, our model produces temporally coherent output which models the viewer's adaptation state. A calibrated four-color-channel video camera is used to obtain video-rate data for scenes with moving objects. We describe a new demosaicing algorithm for working with this type of camera, and how the four color channels can be use to estimate independent rod and cone responses.

We have designed BIDMachRF – an implementation of Random Forest with high CPU and GPU throughput and with full scalability. This paper describes the current state of our implementation as well as points for improvement, which we have identified through benchmarks on classical datasets. Our current in progress version has already shown to be 5x faster than implementations such as SciKit-Learn on large sized GBs of data and is estimated to be at least 20x faster than those implementations when complete.

The work in this report presents a multi-material RP-OMO that circumvents this limitation by combining a silicon nitride optical material with a lower mechanical loss polysilicon material to attain simultaneous high Qm and Qo. The multi-material RP-OMO structure boosts the Qm of a silicon nitride RP-OMO by more than 2× toward realization of the simultaneous high Qm >22,000 and Qo >190,000 needed to maximize RP-OMO performance. With its high Qm, the multi-material RP-OMO exhibits a best-to-date phase noise of -114 dBc/Hz at 1 kHz offset from its 52-MHz carrier—a 12 dB improvement from the previous best by an RP-OMO constructed of silicon nitride alone.

We propose a novel method that uses a principled approach to learn the system's unknown dynamics based on a Gaussian process model and iteratively approximates the maximal safe set. A modified control strategy based on real-time model validation preserves safety under weaker conditions than current approaches. Our framework further incorporates safety into the reinforcement learning performance metric, allowing a better integration of safety and learning. We demonstrate our algorithm on simulations of a cart-pole system and on an experimental quadrotor application and show how our proposed scheme succeeds in preserving safety where current approaches fail to avoid an unsafe condition.

In this thesis, we consider the problem of designing CPSGrader, an automatic grader for laboratory-based courses in the area of cyber-physical systems. We define and solve the problem of synthesizing constraints on a parameterized test such that it is consistent with a set of reference solutions with and without the desired symptom. We also develop a clustering-based active learning technique that selects from a large database of unlabeled solutions, a small number of reference solutions for the expert to label. The goal is to achieve better accuracy of fault identification with fewer reference solutions as compared to random selection.

In this report, basic analysis of the Lamb waves propagating in AlN and the device design techniques are presented in detail. Then, a novel technique to enhance the quality factor (Q) of Lamb wave resonator by utilizing an AlN plate formed in a butterfly shape is investigated in this paper.The finite element analysis (FEA) simulation results show that the butterflyshaped topology can efficiently change the displacement field in the AlN plate and reduce the vibration in the support tethers.

The goal of this thesis is to allow for automatic sparsity detection (ASD) within LAPACK that is completely hidden from the user and provides no slowdown for users running fully dense matrices. This work adds modular support for the detection of blocked sparsity within LAPACK LU and Cholesky functions. It also creates the infrastructure and the algorithms to potentially expand sparsity detection to other factorizations, more input matrix structures, or provide further timing and memory improvements via integration directly in the solver routines. Two general approaches are implemented named `Profile' (ASD1) and `Sparse block' (ASD2) with a third more complicated method named `Full sparsity' (ASD3) being described more abstractly, only at an algorithm level.
