  • 2.逆流生物质气化炉的热机械模型

    This article presents a thermo-mechanical approach to investigate heat transfer between solid and fluid phases in a model gasifier. A two-temperature equation approach is applied in addition to a macroscopic model for laminar flow through a porous moving bed. Transport equations are discretized using the control-volume method and the system of algebraic equations is relaxed via the SIMPLE algorithm. The effects on inter-phase heat transfer due to variation of medium permeability, thermal conductivity and thermal capacity are analyzed. Results indicate that for smaller medium permeabilities, as well as for higher solid-to-fluid thermal capacity and thermal conductivity ratios, enhancement of heat transfer between phases is observed.

    Use of customer owned controllable load, heat pump water heater (HPWH), has been considered for voltage control in distribution system with large penetration of photovoltaic systems. Primary control priority of the proposed voltage control methods is to ensure sufficient amount of hot water in the HPWH tank so that none of participating consumer are affected with hot water shortage. In order to prevent hot water shortage problem, time-varying trigger level to operate the HPWH at right time has been proposed by considering amount of hot water in the tank and hot water consumption. The proposed method triggers the HPWH operation with rated power consumption when amount of hot water in the tank reaches below the proposed trigger level. Outcome of hot water demand patterns.

    This project centered on a close interaction between the TCON Division of Fire line, Inc. and various individuals affiliated with the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) at Youngstown State University (YSU). Fireline, a local company within 10 minutes walking distance from the YSU campus core, has developed a unique process that utilizes displacement reactions to transform ceramic preforms into ceramic-metallic co-continuous interpenetrating phase composites with enhanced properties while retaining the original shape and dimensions of the preform. Through initial development efforts, it was discovered that TCON(TradeName) composite materials have extraordinary macro-, micro-, and nanoscale features that lead to their exceptional properties ideal for applications that require cost effective, lightweight materials. The unique properties of TCON composites in general are derived from the fine interlocking of ceramic and metallic phases throughout the composite microstructure. The ceramic phase provides high stiffness, low density and high strength to the composite, while the continuous network of reinforced metal gives high thermal & electrical conductivity, and high fracture toughness to the material. Such properties make these materials excellent candidates for replacing traditional materials in a number of applications, such as high wear/corrosion resistant refractory shapes for molten metal transport and/or containment in industrial processes (the major area in which Fireline currently commercializes some of its TCON products), or for new applications, including light weight, high strength components for vehicle braking systems.

    This research presents a tool for laboratory managers to quickly determine if employing a DCV system is potentially life-cycle cost effective. The tool presented is not to be used as sole justification for implementing a DCV system; instead, laboratory managers using this tool will be able to quickly determine if further investigation into DCV installation is warranted. The results show that a DCV system is life-cycle cost effective for many different HVAC system total pressure and square footage combinations.

    The upper operating temperature of tubes in heat exchangers/steam generators is strongly influenced by the degradation that can occur because of the reaction of the exchanger/generator tubing with the deposits that accumulate on the surface of the tubes. In fact, severe corrosion has been observed in some biomass fired systems, particularly with elevated potassium and chlorine concentrations in the deposits. Wood gasifiers have recently been and are currently being constructed at several sites in North America. In these systems, the syngas is burned to produce steam and the performance of the heat exchanger tubes under ash deposits is of great concern. As temperatures of the heat exchangers are increased in an effort to increase their operating efficiency, the performance of the tubes is of greater interest. The corrosion behavior of alloy steel tubes as a function of temperature has been investigated by exposing samples of selected alloys to ash collected from the steam generator fired by syngas produced in wood gasifiers. This study compares corrosion rates from laboratory exposures of synthesis gas and ash at 500 degrees C and 600 degrees C.

    A hydraulic cylinder is a mechanical actuator that produces linear motion and unidirectional force by using pressurized hydraulic fluid. It converts the energy stored in the hydraulic fluid into a force, allowing linear motion of the cylinder.     The hydrostatic hyperbaric chamber (HHC) represents the merger of several technologies in development for NASA aerospace applications, harnessed to directly benefit global health. NASA has significant experience developing composite hyperbaric chambers for a variety of applications. NASA also has researched the application of water-filled vessels to increase tolerance of acceleration forces. The combination of these two applications has resulted in the hydrostatic chamber, which has been conceived as a safe, affordable means of making hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) available in the developing world for the treatment of a variety of medical conditions. Specifically, HBOT is highly-desired as a possibly curative treatment for Buruli Ulcer, an infectious condition that afflicts children in sub-Saharan Africa. HBOT is simply too expensive and too dangerous to implement in the developing world using standard equipment. The HHC technology changes the paradigm. The HHC differs from standard hyperbaric chambers in that the majority of its volume is filled with water which is pressurized by oxygen being supplied in the portion of the chamber containing the patient s head. This greatly reduces the amount of oxygen required to sustain a hyperbaric atmosphere, thereby making the system more safe and economical to operate. An effort was taken to develop an HHC system to apply HBOT to children that is simple and robust enough to support transport, assembly, maintenance and operation in developing countries. This paper details the concept for an HHC ventilation and pressurization system to provide controlled pressurization and adequate washout of carbon dioxide while the subject is enclosed in the confined space during the administration of the medical treatment. The concept took into consideration operational complexity, safety to the patient and operating personnel, and physiological considerations. The simple schematic, comprised of easily acquired commercial hardware, supports sustainability.

    This chapter discusses how a vision based robot navigation scheme can be developed, in a two-layered architecture, in collaboration with IR sensors. The algorithm employs a subgoal based scheme where the attempt is made to follow the shortest path to reach the final goal and also simultaneously achieve the desired obstacle avoidance. The algorithm operates in an iterative fashion with the objective of creating the next subgoal and navigating upto this point in a single iteration such that the final goal is reached in minimum number of iterations, as far as practicable.
