可能加剧经济型酒店营收的再次下滑。从 2013 年开始，中国酒店业正式进入拐点时代，整个行业都处在非常不利的营收状态之下。以五星级为代表的高星级酒店逐渐进入冬天，经济型酒店本可能延续大好势头，全力前进。毕竟中国社会的酒店消费特征——普通大众本不愿在住宿上投入太多金钱的事实，可以让经济型酒店走向一个小阳春时代。然而，在这个时候，发生了经济型酒店的“毛巾门”事件。随着此事件影响不断扩大，给经济型酒店品牌带来了巨大的信任危机。此次“劫持门”的发生，又把经济型酒店的安全管理推向了风口浪尖。不能说经济型酒店的营收下滑一定与这两个事件有大的关系，但至少脱不了干系。互联网时代极易造成蝴蝶效应，个案可能引发行业危机，要特别警惕。在这样的背景下，“劫持门”事件可能会给经济型酒店的营收造成进一步的下滑，造成会员客源的流失。
