Diabetes is a chronic, life-threatening disease for which there is no known cure. The disease is caused by the body’s inability to produce or effectively utilize insulin. This inability prevents the body from adequately regulating blood glucose levels. Glucose, the primary source of energy for cells, must be maintained at certain concentrations in the blood to permit optimal cell function and health. Normally, the pancreas controls blood glucose levels by secreting insulin that lowers blood glucose levels when concentrations are too high. In people with diabetes, the body does not produce sufficient levels of insulin or fails to utilize insulin effectively, causing blood glucose levels to rise above normal.

The prostate is a small male reproductive gland. The urethra is a thin tube-like structure through which semen and urine leave the body. Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a urological disorder characterized by non-cancerous proliferation of prostate gland cells. When a patient is suffering from BPH condition, it causes the gland to enlarge, and, as a result, the patient might experience a press against the urethra, constricting urine flow resulting in blockage and urination problems. BPH generally happens when excessive cells in the prostate multiply, and the gland size increases.
