A very broadband distributed amplifier was designed using a 0.13- micrometer gallium arsenide (GaAs) pseudomorphic high electron mobility transistor (PHEMT) process from TriQuint Semiconductor. The design and fabrication of this circuit was performed as part of the fall 2011 Johns Hopkins University Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit (MMIC) Design Course, taught by the author. The design approach is applicable to very broadband, low noise MMICs that could be used for a variety of radio frequency (RF) and microwave systems.

The Ubiquitous Health, or u-Health, service is an IT health care service using the ubiquitous computing environment. u-Health provides customized medical services. As it is a service that has developed from the current hospital visiting medical system, the u-Health service provides a patient with healthcare anywhere and anytime. In this paper, we propose a health management service model using home health gateway based on the u-Health platform. Using home health gateway, u-Health can provide health monitoring, diet, and exercise services using the Healthcare Decision Support Module (HDSM) in the ubiquitous environment. This approach would offer specialized services using an external content provider of DB. In addition, a doctor can provide advice to patients using the monitoring service. The proposed u-Health platform provides effective services using home health gateway in ubiquitous environments to customers, which will improve the health of chronic patients.

The main objective of Science Gateways is to give users remote access to supercomputers and large-scale computing environments in an interactive, web-based and graphical manner. We present a tool, called Vine Toolkit, that has been successfully used as a core web platform for various Science Gateways. Vine Toolkit is a modular, extensible and easy-to-use tool as well as a high-level Application Programming Interface (API) for various applications, visualization components and building blocks. In a nutshell, it allows interoperability between many different HPC and grid technologies within the service layer. As a result, Vine Toolkit provides an ability to build a portal upon different HPC technologies working together to deliver a complete solution to the users. In this article, we briefly describe our most complex and feature-rich project - the Nanotechnology Gateway, as well as a set of tools relevant to advanced scientific portals, development of which was driven by various requirements defined by scientists and gathered in scope of the PL-Grid project.

The term "gateway" refers to a city, or to some transport and logistics-oriented area in a city, that is associated with goods movement in, out, and through the area. Although the definition of a gateway is typically focused on goods movement, a more holistic view is adopted with consideration of the movements of people and the environmental implications of all movements. The relevance of this view is based on the interdependence of commercial and persons mobility, because all moves are happening within the same transport network, and is based on considerations of quality of life in a gateway city. Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, was chosen to test these concepts. Hamilton had a suitable geographical location, a busy port, an international airport, good highway and railway access, and an educated labor force. The gateway prospects for Hamilton were given perspective through a study of other prominent gateways that distilled success factors. Analytical work focused on multiregional economic impact modeling to assess the direct and indirect effects of Hamilton's potential evolution as a gateway. Local-level analysis, through integrated urban modeling and simulation of scenarios, stressed the impact of gateway development on commercial goods movement, auto commuting levels, emission levels, and transit ridership. Increased emissions resulting from gateway economic development could be overcome with forward-thinking policy focused on the uncongested movement of goods and people, compact urban form, and enhanced public transit working in concert. The addition of light rail transit in Hamilton and the promotion of a compact urban form would be catalysts for sustainable local gateway development. Finally, gateway-oriented development in Hamilton will cause noticeable regional economic growth. The models that were developed can be calibrated for other cities, given appropriate data.

High-speed electronic circuits are needed for Army systems in communications, wireless sensors, imaging, and other systems. Gallium nitride (GaN) technology offers the highest power densities for radio frequency (RF) and wireless integrated circuits. Several GaN broadband high power efficient power amplifier designs for high frequency operation, such as satellite communications (SATCOM), were recently designed and submitted for fabrication using a proprietary 0.15-micrometer GaN process under development at TriQuint Semiconductor. These monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs) are being fabricated by TriQuint as part of a recent cooperative research and development agreement (CRADA) with the U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL).

Three-dimensional integration is an emerging chip fabrication technique in which multiple integrated circuit dies are joined using conductive posts. 3D integration offers several performance and security advantages, including extremely high bandwidth between the two dies and the ability to augment a processor with a separate die housing custom security features. This thesis performs a feasibility and requirements analysis of a data transformation coprocessor in a three-dimensional integrated circuit. We propose a novel coprocessor architecture in which one layer (control layer) houses application-specific coprocessors for cryptography and compression, which provide acceleration for applications running on a general-purpose processor in another layer (computational layer).

5618.全球变化信息系统(GCIS)的出处表示

Global climate change is a topic that has become very controversial despite strong support within the scientific community. It is common for agencies releasing information about climate change to be served with Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests for everything that led to that conclusion. Capturing and presenting the provenance, linking to the research papers, data sets, models, analyses, observation instruments and satellites, etc. supporting key findings has the potential to mitigate skepticism in this domain. The U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) is now coordinating the production of a National Climate Assessment (NCA) that presents our best understanding of global change. We are now developing a Global Change Information System (GCIS) that will present the content of that report and its provenance, including the scientific support for the findings of the assessment. We are using an approach that will present this information both through a human accessible web site as well as a machine readable interface for automated mining of the provenance graph. We plan to use the developing W3C PROV Data Model and Ontology for this system.
