  • 2261.爬墙微型地面车辆(MGV)

    The increasing desire to remove Soldiers from high-risk situations such as reconnaissance and maintenance of buildings and infrastructure has spawned the idea of wall-climbing robots. Such robots use techniques ranging from magnets to bio-mimicry in order to climb vertical and inverted surfaces. The focus of this project is to run a comparison analysis of different vortex adhesion base plates, which would result in an improvement on the fundamental design of a robotic wall climber. This study includes initial experimentation of inverted wing inspired base plates created to increase the adhesion forces on the robot. The results show that a flat plate with a full shroud can generate low pressures between the wall and itself while holding roughly 7 times its own weight, approximately 1.93 kg. Our research has indicated that the inverted wing base plates create additional downward forces that are absent in the base plate. Lastly, by channeling airflow from the inlets to the impeller, the turbulent airflow that disrupts the vortex has been eliminated, thus improving performance.

    Xavier University of Louisiana is in the unique position of developing capability in drug discovery especially in the areas of cancer and health disparities. A significant proportion of the funded research on Xavier s campus including collaborative projects involving Tulane University are related to cancer, drug design, synthesis, and drug delivery. This project expands the partnership between Xavier University and Tulane Cancer Center to develop and validate drugs for breast cancer therapy. The Drug Design Team at Xavier consists of experts in computer aided drug design methods and synthesis and has formed a productive partnership with the Cancer Drug Validation Team at the Tulane Cancer Center. This inter-university collaboration involves training Xavier researchers, including undergraduate students, to carryout the experiments necessary to determine if new compounds would be suitable as new drugs to treat breast cancer. Three separate studies are ongoing as subprojects: (1) Design and synthesis of novel ceramide analogs that potentially reverse chemotherapy drug resistance, (2) Design and synthesis of small molecule inhibitors of HER2 tyrosine kinase to suppress tumorigenesis, and (3) Identification of compounds with the potential for estrogen receptor activity.

    Ocean wave have a magnetic field disturbance,caused by the motional induction of sea water moving in the steady main field of Earth.Mass experiment indicates ocean wave-generated magnetic field disturbance can be a major limitation on the performance of airborne magnetic anomaly detection.To check the character of such disturbance observed above sea-surface,a harmonic ocean wave-generated magnetic field disturbance mathematical model based on Weaver's monochromatic wave-generated magnetic field model and ocean wave directional spectrum is proposed.Algorithm is presented for real-time simulation of ocean wave-generated magnetic field disturbance corresponding to the proposed mathematical model.Numerical simulations of ocean wave-generated magnetic field disturbance are sampled above sea-surface by a stationary magnetometer and an airborne magnetometer moving steadily along a rectilinear path.Spectrum analysis of the samples is performed.Simulations results indicate that the proposed harmonic ocean wave magnetic field disturbance mathematical model can well-simulate the real sea conditions.Numerical simulations also reveal that there is a Doppler frequency shift with the increase of magnetometer flight speed.Moreover,energy of the magnetic field disturbance is more dispersed and frequency band is wider with the increase of magnetometer flight speed.

  • 2264.2011年加利福尼亚州的狂犬病临床患者的恢复情况

    In May 2011, a girl aged 8 years from a rural county in California was brought to a local emergency department (ED) with a 1-week history of progressive sore throat, difficulty swallowing, and weakness. After she developed flaccid paralysis and encephalitis, rabies was diagnosed based on (1) detection of rabies virusspecific antibodies in serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), (2) a compatible clinical syndrome in the patient, and (3) absence of a likely alternative diagnosis. The patient received advanced supportive care, including treatment with therapeutic coma. She was successfully extubated after 15 days and discharged from the hospital 37 days later to continue rehabilitation therapy as an outpatient. The public health investigation identified contact with free-roaming, unvaccinated cats at the patients school as a possible source of infection. Several of these cats were collected from the school and remained healthy while under observation, but at least one was lost to follow-up. A total of 27 persons received rabies postexposure prophylaxis (PEP) for potential exposures to the patients saliva. No further cases of rabies associated with this case have been identified. Rabies prevention efforts should highlight the importance of domestic animal vaccination, avoidance of wildlife and unvaccinated animals, and prompt PEP after an exposure.

    Aspect-Oriented Software Architecture (AOA) is a high-level abstraction and integration blueprint of aspectual component-based software.A semantic model of aspectual component-based software is proposed to provide behavior description and semantic foundation for the consistency verification of software architecture dynamic evolution.By using the semantic model of Pi-calculus,a set of the consistency verification methods of dynamic evolution from multiple aspects are introduced.Finally,a case study shows the effect of these methods.

  • 2266.地面流态化促进轻型机器人的快速运行

    We study the locomotor mechanics of a small, lightweight robot (DynaRoACH, 10 cm, 25 g) which can move on a granular substrate of 3 mm diameter glass particles at speeds up to 5 body length/s, approaching the performance of certain desert-dwelling animals. To reveal how the robot achieves this performance, we used high-speed imaging to capture its kinematics, and developed a numerical multi-body simulation of the robot coupled to an experimentally validated simulation of the granular medium. Average speeds measured in experiment and simulation agreed well, and increased nonlinearly with stride frequency, reflecting a change in propulsion mode. At low frequencies, the robot used a quasistatic 'rotary walking' mode, in which the substrate yielded as legs penetrated and then solidified once vertical force balance was achieved. At high frequencies the robot propelled itself using the speed-dependent fluid-like inertial response of the material. The simulation allows variation of parameters which are inconvenient to modify in experiment, and thus gives insight into how substrate and robot properties change performance. Our study reveals how lightweight animals can achieve high performance on granular substrates; such insights can advance the design and control of robots in deformable terrains.

    Designers are increasingly relying on FPGA-based emulation to evaluate the performance of LDPC codes.In this paper,we propose a novel approximate lower triangular structure for the parity part of the parity-check matrix of QC-LDPC codes.Next,a high speed partially parallel decoder architecture which based on the Offset BP-based decoding algorithm is proposed.The results indicate that the frequency can reach 100MHz and its throughput rate can reach 113Mbps.

    In order to significantly improve the load capacity of the soldiers and the maneuverability as carrying heavy loads,the mechanism design and simulation of the wearable exoskeleton robot are studied in this paper.Firstly,the mechanism design of the exoskeleton robot is completed and the three-dimensional model of the exoskeleton robot is established.Then,the five-link mathematical model of the exoskeleton robot is established,the dynamics analysis of which is proceed.Finally,through using virtual prototype technology,the walking simulation of the robot is carried out and the results provide a basis for the future work.
