High-resolution imaging is useful for the forensic identification of unique printed regions. In this paper, we adapt an iris biometric approach to provide significant statistical discrimination between any two imaged halftone areas. The method is based on image registration followed by 2D Gabor wavelet encoding. Hamming Distances (HD) are used for matching. The z-scores for the comparison of like and unlike samples indicate improved identification statistics compared to both iris biometrics and previous methods of print authentication.

This paper introduces a practical system for combining overt, covert and forensic information in a single, small printed feature. The overt "carrier" feature need not be a dedicated security mark such as a 2D or
color barcode, but can instead be integrated into a desirable object such as a logo as part of the aesthetically-desired layout using steganographic halftones (Stegatones). High-resolution imaging in combination with highly accurate and robust image registration is used to recover, simultaneously, a unique identity suitable for associating a unique print with an on-line database and a unique forensic signature that is both tamper and copy sensitive.

The Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle is a new spacecraft being designed by NASA and Lockheed Martin for future crewed exploration missions. The Vision Navigation Sensor is a Flash LIDAR that will be the primary relative navigation sensor for this vehicle. To obtain a better understanding of this sensor's performance, the Orion relative navigation team has performed both flight tests and ground tests. This paper summarizes and compares the performance results from the STS-134 flight test, called the Sensor Test for Orion RelNav Risk Mitigation (STORRM) Development Test Objective, and the ground tests at the Space Operations Simulation Center.

Unmanned ground and air vehicles (UGVs and UAVs) embody a critical capability of future U.S. Army systems and will be used for force projection and as force multipliers. They are expected to operate in a semiautonomous fashion, in which an operator will lay out a mission plan for the vehicle to execute with little or no operator interaction; the operator s function will be to monitor the progress of the unmanned systems. If the situational demands exceed the capabilities of the vehicle, the operator will need to intervene to complete the mission by either changing the mission plan or by assuming direct control of the vehicle by teleoperation until the vehicle can resume semiautonomous operation.

4896.宽带电场传感器阵列技术

We report the development of a broadband electric field sensor array technology to detect radio frequency (RF) electromagnetic energy. An approach based on planar electro-optical resonators is considered. We have developed sensors based on electro-optic polymers and sensors based on a hybrid material system consisting of silicon and lithium niobate. Test and measurement of fabricated sensors based on disperse red one electro-optic polymers yielded a sensitivity of 95 Volts per meter per root Hertz in a footprint of 170 micrometers by 270 micrometers. The sensor based on hybrid silicon and lithium niobate was both more sensitive and more miniature. The demonstrated sensitivity was 4.5 Volts per meter per root Hertz and the footprint was 40 micrometers by 40 micrometers. We conclude that electro-optical resonators based on a hybrid material system of silicon and lithium niobate is a promising technology for broadband electric field sensor arrays. The results of this research program advance the state-of-the-art in electric field sensors with a host of applications including electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) measurements, high-frequency electronic circuit diagnostics, medical equipment field monitoring, radio-frequency reception, and high power microwave detection.

4897.SustainIT:为明天的可持续发展专业课程创新

Based on Hewlett Packard Laboratories' (HP Labs) leading-edge research and development in IT for Sustainability, we believe that information technology (IT) forms a crucial foundation for designing, building and managing the Sustainable Cities of the future. This paper proposes a model to innovate the engineering and computing curriculum to include sustainability and IT topics in order to develop the skills and competencies that future professionals will need to design, build and manage future cities. Multidisciplinary topics include traditional ecological engineering; life-cycle design; scalable and configurable resource microgrids; pervasive sensing infrastructure, aggregation and dashboards; knowledge discovery, data mining and visualization; and, policy based control and operation. Rather than developing a new program, we propose a curriculum model - called SustainIT - adapted from the successful 2006 US NAE Gordon Prize engineering curriculum innovation, The Learning Factory - as a possible roadmap to reform and complement existing Bachelor's of Science (BS) degrees in engineering. By providing a series of guided electives, any engineering program may offer engineering, and/or computer science students the opportunity to learn about and become specialized in IT for Sustainability. We also propose two Master's degree tracks - Information Technology for Sustainability and Infrastructure Technology for Sustainability - for engineering and computer science Master's degrees. We propose this curriculum innovation model as a workshop topic, in order to catalyze a discussion among stakeholders that will lead to the development of curricula to address the need for engineers that will have the skills and training to collect and analyze future cities data and make intelligent decisions for sustainability. The proposed workshop will be led by one or all of the authors, and will include a presentation of the proposed curriculum model, followed by an interactive work session among workshop participants to brainstorm ways to integrate the curriculum at their own institutions.

With the increasing popularity of IEEE802.11u-based Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Passpoint program, the IEEE802.11u protocol is being implemented in a large number of Wi-Fi equipments. This paper thoroughly analyzes the security vulnerabilities of IEEE802.11u and discovers three potential attacks: Bogus GAS Response, GAS Initial Request Flooding and Wireless I/O Blocking Attack with GAS Response Burst. The possible countermeasures are fully discussed and suggested, among which how to defend the wireless I/O blocking attack is the focus of the paper since its harm is verified to be beyond IEEE802.11u protocol itself and can severely degrade the performance of Wi-Fi networks. Experimental results with real HP AP product show that the proposed countermeasures can effectively protect the AP from the attacks. Moreover, they do not require any change to the original IEEE 802.11u standard, so it can be easily deployed into current IEEE802.11u-enabled Wi-Fi networks. We believe the works of this paper opens a good starting point for researchers to prompt the maturity of IEEE8011.u standard.
