Electrosurgical devices are used to cut/remove tissue, coagulate, and control bleeding during surgeries by using high-frequency electric current. During the process, heat proportional to the resistance and diameter of the tissue is generated by the electrosurgical device. The two most commonly used electrosurgical modalities are: monopolar and bipolar. In monopolar electro surgery, the current flows from an output connection on the power unit to the active electrode, and in bipolar the current is delivered via a forceps-shaped device in which one of the forceps tines serves as the active electrode. These devices serve the highly innovative, technical, and fast-paced areas of gynecological, dermatological, cardiac, orthopedic, urological, and general surgical procedures.
