在中国钢材市场淡季，需求减缓。全球市场价格不平衡，中国废钢进口量减少，日本废钢供应商转向韩国市场。而中国小方坯进口有赖于粗钢产量的变化。今年前五个月，中国废钢进口量稳步增长，6月份中国废钢进口量环比下降近30%，上半年进口量大约32万吨。预计三季度废钢进口进一步下降。因为届时中国钢材需求比较平稳，且全球钢材价格不平衡，价格倒挂。6-7月份，中国废钢贸易商和钢厂已经不再进口高价的再生钢铁原料作为铁矿石的补充，原因是担心可能无法通过提高钢材价格来抵消成本的增长，特别是价格上涨受到限制。普氏数据，6月份废钢现货价格（中国CFR）高于5月份，但远低于4月份，只有3月份价格的三分之一多一点。
