    Traditional Chinese Medicine treats pulse diagnosis as a very important diagnostic tool which can give very detailed information on the state of the state of internal organs. However, it is seldom used by people in monitoring their own daily health because it requires training and experience. We’ve designed a personal ‘Pulse Reading’ sensor gadget that can take the pulse information from three different wrist positions at the same time and detect the frequency, stress, rhythm and the change under three different pressures. It can also communicate with a personal computer and show readings that can be used for stress recognition based on Traditional Chinese Medicine. A wide market survey of this kind of product was done to set the value of the product before starting to make the prototype. The MEMS sensor and sensor package survey were studied in order to build an accurate and stable sensor of right size and with appropriate output and a reasonable price. Pulse signals were denoised and screened through matlab and stress pattern recognition was built using a BP neural network. Finally, we built the prototype which consists of a pulse reading gadget, an analog/digital conversion part which lets the sensor gadget communicate with a computer and the matlab programming, which process the pulse signals and identifies the stress levels. The accuracy of the testing data for classifying stress is about 75%. The product cost is 100 times lower than similar existing commodity. Overall, we believe that this product will let people monitor their health and benefit from this information more conveniently and effectively than the can at present.

    This paper describes the need for adaptive gait tuning on an eight-legged robot, which will enable it to adjust its gait parameters to increase the speed at which it navigates difficult and varying terrains. Specifically, we characterize the robot’s performance on varied terrains and use the results to inform the implementation of a finite-difference policy gradient reinforcement learning algorithm.

    In this report, we reviewed the requirements and challenges of performing spectrum sensing in the TV band for mobile applications. We described the existing state of this area of research from both a technical and a policy perspective, and reviewed existing theoretical techniques for performing signal detection. We then proposed a novel physical implementation of a spectrum sensing system by using subsampling autocorrelation in the analog domain.

      In this paper we leverage the structure of the SDN software stack to automate the process of troubleshooting networks. We present two techniques for programmatically localizing the root cause of network problems.We evaluated our tools on three popular SDN platforms— Frenetic, Floodlight and POX—and found or reproduced three bugs: isolation breaches and faulty failover logic between replicated controllers.

    Network on chip is an emerging interconnection paradigm to address the scalability of traditional bus architecture. Time-critical systems need the capability to control packet delays in a network on-chip. The inflexibility and/or non-composability reduce the scalability of several proposed real-time service approaches for hard real-time networks onchip. In the era of “dark silicon” when large portions of multicore chips are turned off to save energy and control temperature, the incremental deployment capability of applications is crucial. In incremental deployment, application components are turned on and off. For time-critical applications, these components need to be composable in the sense that new incoming applications should not affect the behaviors of existingapplications. In this paper, we propose a composable and flexible work-conserving packet scheduling discipline for hard real-time networks on chip. Our scheduling discipline employs an earliest deadline first (EDF) scheduler, which reduces average packet delays by 80% in comparison with a previous non-work-conserving EDF scheduling discipline running on the same 8[1]8 network with various popular traffic patterns. Our proposed scheduling discipline provides guaranteed service without sacrificing high consistent average performance. We also derive sufficient buffer sizes for our scheduling discipline. However, our scheduling discipline incurs a reasonable communication overhead.

    Photonic systems that transmit and process microwave-frequency analog signals have traditionally been encumbered by relatively large signal distortion and noise. Optical phase modulation (PM) and frequency modulation (FM) are promising techniques that can improve system performance. In this dissertation, I discuss an optical ltering approach to demodulation of PM and FM signals, which does not rely on high frequency electronics, and which scales in linearity with increasing photonic integration. I present an analytical model, lter designs and simulations, and experimental results using planar lightwave circuit (PLC) lters and FM distributed Bragg rector (DBR) lasers. The linearity of the PM and FM photonic links exceed that of the current state of-the-art.

For slide-levelclassi cation, our algorithm performs at the level of human readers, demonstrating the potential for making a signi cant impact on global healthcare.
