环氧树脂由于具有优异的耐热性能、良好的力学性能和化学稳定性广泛应用于电子、建筑，胶粘剂、航空等众多领域。然而，环氧树脂的易燃性是其最大问题，对其阻燃改性一直是人们致力研究的热点。阻燃剂的发展方向日益趋于无卤化，特别是磷系阻燃剂逐渐成为阻燃环氧树脂领域的研究热点。反应型阻燃剂DOPO(9,10-二氢-9-氧-10-磷杂菲-10-氧化物)近年来受到广泛关注，它的分子中含有P-H键，可与不饱和键、羰基、环氧基等进行加成反应，生成各种DOPO衍生物。可作为反应型阻燃剂参与反应嵌入聚合物分子结构中。也可作为添加型阻燃剂用于高分子材料的阻燃。随着环保要求的日趋严格，该类产品的应用前景将10分可观。2010年前该类相关研究报道较多，专利较少，近年来专利大增(尤其是国内)。这表明，该类技术已逐步进入实用阶段。
