Network security has become an important aspect in the current connected landscape, with the amount of data traffic handled by network infrastructures increasing at an unprecedented rate in recent times. With every industry moving toward connected architecture and cloud, the dependency on data centers and cloud is increasing. Data breaches have been increasingly impacting enterprises across industries; prominent breaches include Equifax and Uber, which caused a considerable downtime and did cost huge amounts of revenue to resolve. Many HIPAA data breaches are a result of internal accidents, third-party network hacking, social engineering, etc.

In the recent times, many nations, notably the NATO members, have begun to invest heavily in autonomous military systems. Though the focus had been largely on the unmanned aerial vehicles, the investments in the development of UGVs have also grown recently. In the United States, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has been investing heavily in the UGV technologies. The United States recently called upon defense contractors to innovate more in the area of UGVs, military robots, and drones to focus on improvements on easily upgraded software rather than hardware that can take years to come to the market. It aims to make use of 3D printing to speed up the process. This shows that the investments in R&D are expected to increase for UGVs in the coming years.
