  • 111.可逆的石墨烯加氢金属接触

    We use x-ray spectroscopy and density functional theory to investigate the hydrogenation-induced electronic structure changes in graphene on Pt(111). The atom-specific properties of the spectroscopy allow for a direct projection of the band structure onto the carbon atoms; this was compared with the calculated density of states. Instead of the generally expected band opening behavior, we observe states at the Fermi level in the carbon-projected density of states. Hydrogenation is accompanied by pinning of the graphene to the substrate through the formation of local CPt bonds which cause the graphene layer to become metallic upon hydrogenation.

    Mg-Ti alloys are attractive for structural applications because of low density and improved corrosion resistance by selective oxidation including hydrogen storage and switchable mirror applications. Titanium has a melting point (1670℃) that greatly exceeds the boiling point of magnesium (1090℃) and therefore, alloying of Mg and Ti by conventional methods is extremely difficult. Secondly, the solubility of Ti in liquid Mg is very low and it is difficult to extend solubility by rapid solidification. Physical vapor deposition by electron beam deposition and magnetron co-sputtering has been used to extend the solubility of Ti in Mg. Mechanical alloying and anvil-cell processing at extreme temperatures and pressures have also used to enforce alloying of Mg with Ti. The present paper deals with the consolidation of blended magnesium-titanium powders by microwave heating, an approach that appears highly cost effective.

    Theoretical studies of the possibility of forming ammonia electrochemically at ambient temperature and pressure are presented. Density functional theory calculations were used in combination with the computational standard hydrogen electrode to calculate the free energy profile for the reduction of N2 admolecules and N adatoms on several close-packed and stepped transition metal surfaces in contact with an acidic electrolyte. Trends in the catalytic activity were calculated for a range of transition metal surfaces and applied potentials under the assumption that the activation energy barrier scales with the free energy difference in each elementary step. The most active surfaces, on top of the volcano diagrams, are Mo, Fe, Rh, and Ru, but hydrogen gas formation will be a competing reaction reducing the faradaic efficiency for ammonia production. Since the early transition metal surfaces such as Sc, Y, Ti, and Zr bind N-adatoms more strongly than H-adatoms, a significant production of ammonia compared with hydrogen gas can be expected on those metal electrodes when a bias of - 1 V to - 1.5 V vs. SHE is applied. Defect-free surfaces of the early transition metals are catalytically more active than their stepped counterparts.

    Magnesium nanoparticles were synthesized by using organo magnesium precursor. By changing synthesis parameters such as synthesis time and temperature, various morphologies of the magnesium nanoparticles were obtained. Sample synthesized at 250℃ for 30 min exhibited agglomerated nano-sheets of magnesium whereas the sample obtained at 2 hour had individual particles consisted of core/shell structure. The corresponding hydrogen storage properties of these samples were also influenced by the morphology. Hydrogen desorption data revealed that samples prepared at 2 hour could release hydrogen at lower temperature (343℃) than those samples prepared at 30 min and 1 hour.

    Water hydraulics is coming back as an alternative to oil and other not environment friendly working fluids used in very wide range of fluid drive and control systems. One of the barrier causing that water hydraulics is cost of water resistant materials for components, especially moving parts such as pump pistons, surface of cylinder tubes and rods, poppet and seats, etc. to avoid corrosion. One of common solution is to use stainless steel there, where it can cooperate with other nonmetallic material such as plastic or other noncorrosive metallic composite to reduce friction. Thus some of research were directed to elaboration of special coating for covering surfaces in critical regions of water hydraulic components. The article describe results of pilot research on selected components where such coating were introduced on regular carbon steel parts, same as used for oil hydraulics. First part of the article contents description of coating technology and some characteristics of coating layers. Second quotes selected results of conducted by authors research on coated hydraulic cylinders and poppet valves.

    Since the introduction of Electroless (EL) coating in 1946 by Brenner and Riddle, the process has been the subject of steady growth. It is one of the most elegant methods available for the production of alloy coatings on surface. The technique involves the autocatalytic reduction, at the substrate/solution interface, of cations by EL bath released from suitable chemical reducing agents. EL coating technique is simple one, as can be manifested just by controlling pH and temperature of the coating bath. Such coatings are reported to provide excellent physical and mechanical properties. The electroless coatings are being studied at Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee since 1985. The structural and morphological behavior of Ni-P coatings for different phosphorous contents has been extensively studied. Sub-micron size coating islands and their transformations have been deduced. The metallography studies using hot stage within TEM to follow the phase transformations occurring at various temperatures have been studied for Ni-B EL coatings. The realization of mechanical bonding along with chemical bonding between EL coating and the substrate has been explained by coated copper on ceramic powder. As a forward step towards composite coatings, Ni-P-C, Ni-P-Al_2O_3, Ni-P-ZrO_2 has been developed by EL co-deposition technique. Ag-graphite coatings produced by EL technique exhibits nearly five times higher wear resistance and nearly two times better corrosion resistance apart from a good electrical conductor. The tribological behavior of electroless Ni-P-X and Ni-P coatings on steel and aluminium substrates in different conditions i.e., as coated, heat treated at various temperatures at different extents of time with different normal loads, have been studied in terms of dry sliding friction and wear against counter face of case hardened steel. In Ni-P-X nanocoating (X= ZrO-2-Al_2O_3-Al_3Zr), X has been produced in-situ and are of nano-size particles. Such coating could be done on carbon fibre of 7μ. diameter uniformly. Ni-P-ferrite nanocoatings with thickness less than nearly lmm thick, is exhibiting good absorption of microwave in the range of 12-18 GHz which can be exploited for radar applications. Micro-thickness coatings are paying ways to Nano coatings. Nanocoatings are the coatings in which either the thickness of the coating is in nano level or second phase that dispersed in the coat matrix is of nano-size. To further explore the field of EL nanocomposite coatings, now days, a work on EL Ni-P-ZnO, TiO_2, Al_2O_3, ZrO_2 and Ni-B-ZrO_2 for its mechanical properties has been carried out.

    Molybdenum disulfide (MS2), tungsten disulfide (WS2), hexagonal boron nitride (HBN), and Lubalox are common bullet coatings that purportedly reduce friction between the bullet and rifle barrel. Three different bullets, one a solid copper design, and two jacketed lead bullet designs, were tested in the 5.56 mm NATO rifle cartridge. After coating, these bullets were test fired through a chronograph with powder charges ranging from 0.52 grams to 0.91 grams. The energies of these bullets along with a control group of uncoated bullets were plotted against the powder charges. The work of friction for each combination was then determined as the vertical intercept obtained by least squares regression to a line. The different coating and bullet combinations produced changes in friction ranging from reductions in friction of 15to increases in friction of 19. Given the time and expense of coating bullets, the reduction in friction is not cost effective for most applications.

  • 118.工业生产中铝和铁(Ⅲ)氧化物粉末化学镀镍的表征和实验室制备

    Small batches of two oxide powders falling in the particle size range of about 30-230 μm were received from industrial sources and were electroless nickel (EN) coated in order to prepare properly modified reinforcing particles for further laboratory experiments with the Laser Melt Injection (LMI) technique to produce particle reinforced steel composite surface layers. The partially calcined alumina (Al2O3) as well as the hydrothermally recycled crystalline iron(Ⅲ) oxide precipitate were characterized first to check their exact size ranges, specific surface areas and major chemical contaminants so that the best possible EN plating technique would be selected and applied. It was revealed soon that the sensitization and activation pre-treatment steps could not be omitted and after their proper adjustment, also the composition and pH of a relatively commonly used hypophosphite reducing type bath had to be modified to the given purpose. Eventually a slightly alkaline EN bath was successfully prepared with which both industrial oxide powders surface could be nickel coated soundly, which final result was demonstrated also by several metallographic testing techniques showing the microstructure of the quite evenly and fully coated oxide particles.

  • 119.铌作为直流高电压光电子枪的候选电极材料的评估

    The field emission characteristics of niobium electrodes were compared to those of stainless steel electrodes using a DC high voltage field emission test apparatus. A total of eight electrodes were evaluated: two 304 stainless steel electrodes polished to mirror-like finish with diamond grit and six niobium electrodes (two single-crystal, two large-grain, and two fine-grain) that were chemically polished using a buffered-chemical acid solution. Upon the first application of high voltage, the best large-grain and single-crystal niobium electrodes performed better than the best stainless steel electrodes, exhibiting less field emission at comparable voltage and field strength. In all cases, field emission from electrodes (stainless steel and/or niobium) could be significantly reduced and sometimes completely eliminated, by introducing krypton gas into the vacuum chamber while the electrode was biased at high voltage. Of all the electrodes tested, a large-grain niobium electrode performed the best, exhibiting no measurable field emission (> 10 pA) at 225 kV with 20 mm cathode/anode gap, corresponding to a field strength of 18:7 MV/m.

  • 120.SOFC互连涂层性能和功能影响

    The high operating temperature of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) provides good fuel flexibility which expands potential applications, but also creates materials challenges. One such challenge is the interconnect material, which was the focus of this project. In particular, the objective of the project was to understand the interaction between the interconnect alloy and ceramic coatings which are needed to minimize chromium volatilization and the associated chromium poisoning of the SOFC cathode. This project focused on coatings based on manganese cobalt oxide spinel phases (Mn,Co)3O4, which have been shown to be effective as coatings for ferritic stainless steel alloys. Analysis of diffusion couples was used to develop a model to describe the interaction between (Mn,Co)3O4 and Cr2O3 in which a two-layer reaction zone is formed. Both layers form the spinel structure, but the concentration gradients at the interface appear like a two-phase boundary suggesting that a miscibility gap is present in the spinel solid solution. A high-chromium spinel layer forms in contact with Cr2O3 and grows by diffusion of manganese and cobalt from the coating material to the Cr2O3. The effect of coating composition, including the addition of dopants, was evaluated and indicated that the reaction rate could be decreased with additions of iron, titanium, nickel and copper.
