近年来，国内聚乙烯装置产能迅速扩张，LLDPE产能激增70%，导致市场供需结构的巨变。2011年这种形势稍的缓解，但在2012年下半年，新增产能再度大量释放。2012年，国内聚乙烯主要生产企业有23家，装置约56套(部分装置包括多条生产线)，产能达到1176万t/a，产量达到1057万t，装置平均开工率89.9%。其中LDPE装置13套，产能189万t/a，产量约193万t；LLDPE/FDPE装置24套，产能568万t/a，LLDPE产量约427万t(含FDPE装置产量)：HDPE装置19套，产能419万t/a，HDPE产量约410万t(含FDPE装置产量)。

开发生物基橡胶是未来全球橡胶业可持续发展的唯一途径。国外领先的轮胎企业以及一些大型合成橡胶生产企业已经把开发生物基橡胶和生物基橡胶单体列入发展规划，并在积极付诸实施。我国不失时机地启动了杜仲胶产业化的推动工作，在保障我国橡胶工业的可持续发展和减少化石能源橡胶材料比例的战略部署中迈出了重要一步。自2010年以来，在国家有关部委和中国橡胶工业协会的大力推动下，国内涌现了一批投身杜仲产业开发的企业。2011年4月份，国家发改委发布的"产业结构调整目录(2011本)"中，首次将"杜仲种植生产"和"新型天然橡胶的开发和应用"列入鼓励类目录中，并于当年对部分有杜仲产业基础的企业实施了资金扶持。2011年6月份，国家发改委、科技部、工信部、商务部和国家知识产权局联合发布的《当前优先发展的高技术产业化重点领域指南(2011年度)》中将杜仲橡胶生产技术及装备列入"新材料"项。
