Activated carbon is a form of carbon with exceptionally high surface area and micro porosity for adsorption and chemical reactions. In order to manufacture activated carbon, commonly available materials such as coal, wood, or coconut shells are processed in the presence of heat and gas. The property of activated carbon to adsorb different substances is utilized in a variety of ways. The major application of activated carbon is in the Water Purification and Gas Treatment industries. Other applications of activated carbon include metal extraction, sewage treatment, gas filtration, pharmaceutical applications, food and beverage processing, and controlling emission from automobiles.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations defines biopesticide as “a compound that kills organisms by virtue of specific biological effects rather than as a broader chemical poison." Biopesticides are living organisms that are used to destroy agricultural pests. As against chemical pesticides, whose residues have a tendency to bioaccumulate (accumulate in the bodies of living organisms and the food chain) and cause hazards to flora and fauna, biopesticides are beneficial to the ecological chain and the environment. Their benefits are mainly due to the following two reasons:The Global Biopesticides market was valued at US$1.47 billion in 2012. In 2012, North America contributed the major share to the Global Biopesticides market, and it was followed by Europe. The market in Europe is expected to be the fastest growing market for biopesticides during the period 2012-2016 because of its stringent regulations pertaining to human health and environmental safety. The Biopesticides market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 15.87 percent during the forecast period.

Air fresheners are consumer products that release fragrance and are therefore used to create a pleasant smelling and fresh indoor atmosphere in homes and businesses. By releasing fragrance, air fresheners can cover up bad odors, thereby dispelling the uncomfortable feeling caused by the undesirable smells in the immediate environment. They contain a number of different chemical agents such as fragrances, aerosol propellants, and solvents such as mineral oil or 2-butoxyethanol and other glycol ethers, which neutralize offensive odors. As fragrances, air freshener preparations often include terpenes such as limonene. Many air fresheners are known to contain carcinogens, volatile organic compounds, and known toxins such as phthalate esters. Some air fresheners also contain chemicals ingredients that can aggravate asthma and affect reproductive development. Air fresheners are classified into two broad categories: Continuous Action and Instant Action.

Fertilizers nutrients are organic or inorganic substances that are added to the soil to enhance or replenish nutrients lacking in the soil; such nutrients are indispensable for plant growth. These fertilizer nutrients may be available naturally or may have to be synthesized. The lack of nutrients in the soil may be caused by a number of factors such as soil erosion and inadequate rotation of crops. In addition, the increased use of the same land for crop production reduces the nutrients in the soil. Although these nutrients can be replaced by crop residues or other organic matter over time, such replenishment does not provide optimum fertility.The Global Fertilizer Nutrients market is expected to witness a steady growth rate during the forecast period. The APAC region dominated the Global Fertilizers market with a share of 53-57 percent, followed by the EMEA region and the Americas. In the APAC region, Asia was the largest revenue contributor to the overall market. On the whole, the market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 3.83 percent during the forecast period.
