A circuit breaker is an electrical switch that is used to protect an electric circuit from short-circuiting and overloading. If there is an overloading problem, the circuit breaker detects it and the supply is turned off automatically. A fuse is used to prevent current overload and consists of a wire inside the component that heats up and melts disconnecting the circuit from the overloading power source and thereby protecting all the electrical and electronic devices in the circuit. A relay is a switch that opens and closes a circuit electronically. It controls one circuit through opening or closing contacts in another circuit.

Commercial aircraft lighting systems are classified into exterior lighting systems, interior lighting systems, and emergency lighting systems. Landing lights are used in night landing operations by aircraft. Position lights are also known as navigation lights. These lights are placed on the wingtips (red on left wingtip, green on right wingtip) and on the tail of an aircraft. Anti-collision lights are used to illuminate the important parts of an aircraft such as the rudder (vertical tail of the aircraft), fuselage (body of the aircraft), and the wingtips of the aircraft. A red beacon is used on the rudder, while white strobes are used on the wingtips. Cockpit lights help pilots to view important switches and instruments. Cabin lights are used to illuminate the aircraft cabin. Emergency lights include interior and exterior lights that are battery powered. They are not directly connected to the main electrical system of an aircraft.

Biosimulation is the simulation of biological processes and systems, and is aided by computers. It plays an important role in the drug discovery and development process. The drug discovery and development process can be broadly classified into the following stages: target identification, target validation, lead discovery, lead optimization, and pre-clinical and clinical testing. Biosimulation is employed during all these stages and supports decision-making. One of the key roles of biosimulation in the drug discovery and development process is that it enables trials on a virtual patient population, thereby reducing the need for clinical trials on humans and animals. Thus, biosimulation provides immense value to pharmaceutical companies in terms of reducing both R&D time and costs.

A DMFC is a subcategory of fuel cells that uses methanol as the primary fuel. One of the major advantages of using methanol as a fuel in DMFCs is that the fuel cells can operate without the need to first convert the fuel into hydrogen gas. DMFCs consist of two electrodes that are connected with the external circuit; this allows the conversion of energy through chemical reaction between methanol and air or oxygen, which is then directly converted into electrical energy. The common operating temperature for DMFCs is 50-120 degree Celsius. Due to its low operating temperature, the energy density is high, which is generally preferred for portable applications.
