Failure and security risks of communication optical cable in electric power system caused by anomalous changing of strain have been investigated,the current situation of the strain monitoring system for optical cable of electric power system has been introduced,and the principle and features of measuring the strain by using fiber grating sensing technology have been presented.The new method that can be used in strain monitoring for communication optical cable of key position in electric power system has been put forward,and fiber grating sensor scheme has been designed.Finally,several key technical problems in its practical application have been analyzed in detail.

The world's energy paradigm continues to undergo a rapid shift, fueled by legislative mandates and quotas, towards an increased use of renewable energy sources. To support this shift, an advanced electric power system (EPS) architecture, including increasing amounts of distributed resources, load control, bi-directional power flow, advanced metering, and improved communications is gaining attention and being implemented by many electric utilities. As new distributed energy resources are interconnected with the EPS, it is essential to verify not only that their grid interconnection systems (ICS) conform to the relevant U.S. grid interconnection standards (IEEE Std 1547 and UL 1741), but also that they perform satisfactorily under a variety of variable resource input and grid output conditions. To this end, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has been developing a platform for evaluation of ICSs using hardware-in-the-loop (HIL). This report describes an important addition to that platforma grid interconnection system evaluator (GISE). The GISE is a combined hardware and software solution that leverages HIL simulation techniques to automate portions of the often time-consuming grid interconnection conformance test procedures of IEEE Std 1547.1. Beyond just automating grid interconnection conformance test procedures for standard equipment, the GISE provides a platform to test the capability of an ICS with respect to advanced grid functions such as voltage and/or frequency ride-through, volt/var control, or other ancillary services. This report provides a comprehensive set of test results demonstrating the GISE's accuracy, repeatability, and versatility in executing IEEE Std 1547 over/undervoltage and frequency and unintentional islanding tests. This testing regime employed three different commercial residential photovoltaic inverters to also show the applicability of the GISE to a variety of ICS topologies.

Modern aircraft increasingly rely on electric power for subsystems that have traditionally run on mechanical power. The complexity and safety- criticality of aircraft electric power systems have therefore increased, rendering the design of these systems more challenging. This work is motivated by the potential that correct-by-construction reactive controller synthesis tools may have in increasing the effectiveness of the electric power system design cycle. In particular, we have built an experimental hardware platform that captures some key elements of aircraft electric power systems within a simplified setting. We intend to use this platform for validating the applicability of theoretical advances in correct-by-construction control synthesis and for studying implementation-related challenges. We demonstrate a simple design work ow from formal specifications to auto-generated code that can run on software models and be used in hardware implementation. We show some preliminary results with different control architectures on the developed hardware testbed

The electric power system in North America is linked between the United States and Canada. Canada has historically been a net exporter of electricity to the United States. The extent to which this remains true will depend on the future evolution of power markets, technology deployment, and policies. To evaluate these and related questions, we modify the Regional Energy Deployment System (ReEDS) model to include an explicit representation of the grid-connected power system in Canada to the continental United States. ReEDS is unique among long-term capacity expansion models for its high spatial resolution and statistical treatment of the impact of variable renewable generation on capacity planning and dispatch. These unique traits are extended to new Canadian regions.

Transmission line flashing will cause large area and long time of blackouts,it happens in the working voltage,and it poses serious threat to the electric power system.With the development of industry,the increase of power grid capacity and rated voltage level,there are more and more flashing accidents occurred in the power system of power transmission and transformation equipment external insulation,also the damage that they bring about to our economy is getting larger.Aiming at a series of problems caused by transmission line flashing,this paper comes up with an assessment method of transmission line flashing,it improves the forecast accuracy and efficiency so as to ensure the safety operation of transmission.

In late 2012, the Energy Systems Integration Facility (ESIF) is opening at the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). The facility includes 19 laboratories with a wide range of capabilities, and will give NREL and partnering organizations the opportunity to research electricity integration projects before deploying them in the field. The ESIF also includes visualization labs to help researchers understand the data collected during project experiments.

The human constitution can be classified into four possible constitutions according to an individual's temperament and nature: Tae-Yang (太陽), So-Yang (少陽), Tae-Eum (太陰), and So-Eum (少陰). This classification is known as the Sasang constitution. In this study, we classified the four types of Sasang constitutions by measuring twelve sets of meridian energy signals with a Ryodoraku device (良導絡). We then developed a Sasang constitution classification method based on a fuzzy neural network (FNN) and a two-dimensional (2-D) visual model. We obtained meridian energy signals from 35 subjects for the So-Yang, Tae-Eum, and So-Eum constitutions. A FNN was used to obtain defuzzification values for the 2-D visual model, which was then applied to the classification of these three Sasang constitutions. Finally, we achieved a Sasang constitution recognition rate of 89.4.
