摘 要：Information is widely recognized as the lifeblood of modern medicine. Health information technology (health IT) has the potential to improve the flow of information across the health care system and serve as the infrastructure to enable care transformation. Health IT comprises technologies--from electronic health records (EHRs) and personal health records (PHRs) to remote monitoring devices and mobile health applications--that can collect, store, and transmit health information. By enabling health information to be used more effectively and efficiently throughout our health system, health IT has the potential to empower providers and patients; make health care and the health system more transparent; enhance the study of care delivery and payment systems; and drive substantial improvements in care, efficiency, and population health.
