For instance, in 2015, Philips’ R&D efforts and marketing dollars put into its Philips Smart Purifier brand helped it to win back the millennial(age group 16-34 years) American consumers who had moved away from the category. The manufacturer also hopes innovations with activated carbon technology will pull in even more young consumers.Developed countries such as the US and the UK present relatively mature markets for home appliances. While these markets are subject to product innovation and subsequent product launches to gain a competitive edge, developing countries like China, Brazil, Russia, and India also now have a significant share in the global market. Therefore, the key vendors are increasingly focusing their attention on these countries. For instance, Philips expanded its business in the markets of both Brazil and China in 2015.Adoption of awareness programs and marketing campaigns are the major strategies for the global manufacturers of air purifiers to cater to the developing

markets such as China, Brazil, India, South Africa, Turkey, and Malaysia. For instance, in 2014, Philips launched a digital awareness campaign for its air purifier lines through a dedicated website, Facebook app, and social media such as YouTube, to spread the awareness of indoor air pollution and need for residential air purifiers in China and India.
