摘 要:Historically, structure of the Japanese pharmaceutical industry was "closed" in nature which means only domestic companies had the control over the market but in later stages government introduced liberal policies by allowing foreign firms to setup distribution or R&D units in the country. Before amendment, there was a monopoly of domestic players in the market but now this trend is changing with large international pharmaceutical firms entering in the market and acquiring small domestic firms.
