摘 要：Motivated by the constrained factorization problems of sparse principal components anal-ysis (PCA) for gene expression modeling, low-rank matrix completion for recommender sys-tems, and robust matrix factorization for video surveillance, this dissertation explores themodeling, methodology, and theory of matrix factorization.
