With the adoption of long-awaited healthcare reform bills effective January 2018, the outlook for the Ukrainian healthcare sector is considerably brighter. The introduction of a two-tiered health insurance model with a state-guaranteed level of care and efforts to improve healthcare in rural areas will increase access to care and be driven by a significant increase in public funding. We note that political uncertainty has diluted the reforms and it remains to be seen how successfully they will be implemented.
