摘 要：An ECG is a diagnostic medical device that is used to measure the electrical activity of the heart over a period of time. It picks up electrical impulses generated by the heart with the help of electrodes and translates them into a waveform. These electrical impulses are generated by the polarization and depolarization of cardiac tissue. The ECG reading can give information about irregular heart rhythms, the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart, and evidence of a previous heart attack and coronary artery disease. There are different types of ECGs depending on the number of leads used for placement such as 3-lead, 5-lead or 12-lead ECGs. Electrodes are attached to the surface of the skin and recorded by a device external to the body.
