摘 要:AIDS is a life-threatening disease caused by a virus called HIV. In this disease certain white blood cells (lymphocytes) are destroyed, resulting in the loss of the body's ability to protect itself against infections, which are called opportunistic infections. HIV attacks the body's white blood cells, specifically a subset called CD4 or helper T cells. AIDS/HIV testing devices are medical devices that are used to determine the presence of HIV in human blood. There are several testing devices available in the market, including the HIV antibody test, antigen (p24) test, and PCR test. HIV testing is also used to reduce the risk of transmission during blood transfusions and tissue transplantation.
