摘 要:Different EM modeling methodologies employed in the design of plasmonic nanostructures and nano-antennas are described in this chapter. The EM modeling methods discussed in this chapter involves numerical methods (FDTD and RCWA) as well as an analytical method (multipole expansion method). Moreover, we discuss in detail the different techniques that are involved in the development of plasmon-ics-active nanostructures and nano-antennas, comparing the merits and demerits of the different processes. Finally, this chapter describes current research work in several areas such as surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS), localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR), as well as surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensing and imaging. The applications of these processes for detecting chemical, biological, and biomedical species are discussed.
