Earthing is a grounding process for electricity carrying devices. During earthing, the neutral wire or the wire that does not carry electricity in an apparatus is connected to the ground. The purpose of earthing an electrical device is to minimize and prevent the danger of electrocution and fire break-outs that can be caused by an electrical energy discharge. This is achieved by ensuring that there is no leakage in the flow of current through an undesired path and through proper insulation so that the potential of the conductor is below that of the earth.
