摘 要：An automated external defibrillator is a lightweight computerized device used to assess lifethreatening arrhythmia and if necessary restore normal heartbeat in victims of sudden cardiac arrest. Cardiac arrhythmia is a leading cause of premature death and is characterized by the abrupt loss of heart function resulting in the inhibition of blood flow to the brain and other vital organs. According to a 2013 report by the AHA, more than 450,000 people die annually in the US because of sudden cardiac arrest. Legislators of several countries, especially in developed nations, are training people and installing automated external defibrillators in workplaces, schools, and medical facilities to decrease the fatalities caused by sudden cardiac arrest.
