摘 要:Herpes is a chronic condition caused by the HSV. The term encompasses two different diseases: oral herpes (or cold sores) and genital herpes. Oral herpes affects the area around the mouth, whereas genital herpes affects the genitals. Oral herpes is caused only by HSV-1, while genital herpes is caused by both HSV-1 and HSV-2. HSV is a contagious virus that spreads through direct contact. At present, there is no cure for herpes and treatments can only help relieve symptoms. Medications can reduce pain caused by a herpes outbreak and reduce healing time.
