Planar lightwave circuit (PLCs) are devices integrated with fiber-matched silica waveguides on silicon or glass substrate to ensure optimal interaction for guided-wave optical signals. PLC is a recently developed technology wherein waveguides are fabricated using lithography and a silica glass substrate. PLC splitters regulate the power of optical signals via splitting and routing to facilitate the delivery of reliable light distribution.
