Fire safety has become a very important aspect in designing modern buildings when compared to buildings built 70 years ago since automatic fire detection and escape routes were rarely built into them. In terms of revenue, the global smart smoke detector market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 12.68% during 2018−2024. Developments in smoke detectors and smoke alarms began in early 1922 with observations by Greinacher and later by Walter Jaeger in 1930. Before the introduction of fire safety equipment such as smoke detectors, fire alarms, and sprinklers, among others, fires resulted in a humongous loss of human life and property.
