They are used to effectively control and distribute electric power across industrial premises in order to protect electrical circuits and equipment from unregulated power spikes. Switchgears are classified as low voltage, medium voltage, and high voltage on the basis of load-bearing capacity. Furthermore, switchgears are classified as air-insulated switchgears, gas-insulated switchgears, oil-insulated switchgears, and vacuum-insulated switchgears on the basis of material used.
