The packaging industry is among the high-growth industries in India and developing at a rate of 22% to 25% per annum, according to the Packaging Industry Association of India (PIAI). Further, according to a study by trade and commerce trade association, ASSOCHAM, the packaging industry in India is anticipated to reach USD 73.6 billion by FY 2020, as a result of its growing population and income levels.  Although Indian packaging market was the fifth-largest in the world, it constituted only 4% of the global packaging industry, according to the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. Thus, packaging in India has been in the rear seat till recently.
