摘 要：Biomarker detection is rapidly emerging as an important clinical tool, especially in the battle against cancer. Cancer is a complex disease with time-dependent dynamics, and presymptomatic indicators are useful in early detection, accurate diagnosis, and developing therapeutic strategies. Such biomarkers provide a "signature" of the health state and are found in biological fluids in blood or urine, and recently in saliva. Saliva is easily accessible in a noninvasive manner and can be collected with less patient discomfort relative to blood. In addition, the levels of interfering material (cells, DNA, RNA, and proteins) and inhibitory substances are lower and less complex in saliva than in blood.
