Walls and floor tiles constituted about 32% of the global ceramic industry production in 2015. The global production of ceramic tiles is expected to reach close to 18 billion square meters by 2018, growing at a CAGR of about 9% during 2015-2018. The increased production levels provide an impetus to the demand for ceramic machinery on a global scale.Although APAC is both the leading consumer and producer of ceramic ware, the ceramic machinery equipment market is concentrated in Europe, with Italy being the global manufacturer of high-quality machinery. Thus, the unrivaled position of the EU in the market is expected to sustain during the forecast period and beyond. About 30% of the production cost in the ceramic industry is directly related to energy costs. Hence, the prices of the end-products are sensitive to the energy prices. This has allowed many ceramic equipment manufacturers to offer complete turnkey solutions for plant engineering, enabling them to become energy efficient with the expertise of professional machine suppliers.
