A distribution transformer is used in the electric distribution system to step-down the high voltage to a lower level so the end-users such as industrial, commercial, as well as household, can consume distribution conveniently. Since 2007, the DOE has regulated the energy efficiency level of low-voltage dry-type distribution transformers. The regulations were also imposed by the same on liquid-immersed and medium-voltage dry-type distribution transformers from 2010. Sometimes, a distribution transformer is designed and constructed in a way that it is mounted on a utility pole during installation and is well-known as a pole-mount transformer. The other ones, which are installed on a concrete base, at the ground level are better known as pad-mount transformers.

Multiplexed diagnostics refer to equipment used for analyzing multiple analytes in a single cycle of an assay procedure. Multiplexed diagnostics are able to diagnose and run multiple tests on a specimen. These tools have evolved from diagnostic assays that screen a single analyte in one run of the assay procedure. Multiplexed diagnostics find their use in research and diagnostics laboratories. R&D laboratories use multiplexed assays in drug development procedures to screen multiple analytes. Multiplexed diagnostics are also used in various fields such as drug abuse screening, pharmacogenetics, and infection testing.

Pancreatic cancer is a cancer which starts from the cells of the pancreas, a glandular organ. The pancreas functions as both an exocrine and an endocrine gland. Cells in the exocrine pancreas secrete digestive enzymes into the small intestine. The endocrine pancreas produces hormones, such as glucagon and insulin, which influence glucose metabolism. Based on the site of initiation, pancreatic cancer is classified into exocrine and endocrine pancreatic cancer. When pancreatic cancer cells spread to other parts of the body, it is known as metastatic pancreatic order. The incidence and mortality rate of pancreatic cancer is higher in men than in women. SEER projected the number of new cases for pancreatic cancer in the US, in 2014, to be 46,420, accounting for 2.8 percent of new cancer cases. It also estimates that in 2014, 39,590 deaths, accounting for 6.8 percent of the total cancer deaths in the US, would be due to pancreatic cancer.

Breath analyzers are devices used to detect the presence of different compounds in an individual's breath sample. Breath analyzers are most commonly used to measure the blood alcohol content in a breath sample. These devices are a major tool in convicting offenders of drink and drive offenses. H1N1 influenza (zoonotic) is an infectious disease in humans caused by the H1N1 virus. The H1N1 virus infects the nose, throat, and lungs of the host. It is an RNA virus and a type of influenza A virus belonging to the Orthomyxoviridae family. Influenza A viruses can infect different animal species such as humans, swine, birds, seals, and horses. On the basis of the antigenicity of their surface glycoproteins, influenza A viruses can be subdivided into neuraminidase and hemagglutinin. The hemagglutinin component is used by the virus to bind to host cell receptors, thereby facilitating viral entry into the host cell. The neuraminidase protein enzymatically cleaves terminal sialic acid residues from mucins, thereby allowing the virus to reach underlying cells in the respiratory tract. The elderly, young children, and people with medical conditions such as liver disorders, blood disorders, kidney disorders, chronic lung disease, asthma, and neurodevelopmental and neurological conditions are more susceptible to the infection. Influenza vaccines are administered for active immunization against the influenza virus, conferring protection against the disease. Vaccination of high-risk groups prevents unnecessary hospitalizations and premature deaths because of the disease.

COPD covers various progressive lung diseases including emphysema, chronic bronchitis, refractory (non-reversible) asthma, and some forms of bronchiectasis. It is a serious condition that restricts airflow in the lungs and is characterized by increasing breathlessness. The exact etiology of COPD is not understood; however, most cases of COPD are caused by genetic factors and by inhaling pollutants such as smoking, fumes, and chemicals. As the disease develops, the symptoms tend to get worse if an infection occurs in the lungs. While the disease cannot be cured, it can be managed and treated.

A printed battery is a thin and flexible battery composed of zinc (anode) and manganese dioxide (cathode) and is printed on a recyclable plastic. The output voltage from the battery is 1.5V with a peak drain current of 1mA. Printed batteries are used mainly for short-lifetime and low-power-source applications. As these batteries are produced using eco-friendly materials, they can be easily disposed of with household waste. The most important feature of a printed battery is that it is inexpensive. Printed batteries are used in a variety of devices such as passive RFID tags, temperature sensors, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, interactive packaging, and smart cards.
