摘 要:Benzene is a hydrocarbon that contains six carbon and six hydrogen atoms. It is a constituent of crude oil and one of the primary petrochemicals. It has a cyclic structure in which atoms are joined by a continuous pi-bond. It is a colorless and highly flammable liquid with a sweet odor. It is used as a precursor for the production of heavy chemicals such as ethylbenzene and cumene. It is an important gasoline additive with a high octane number, so it is used to improve the anti-knocking characteristic of gasoline. The carcinogenicity of benzene is the main reason for restrictions on the use of benzene in non-industrial applications.
