Cladding is a process of bonding two dissimilar methods together. This process is different from other methods like fusion welding, which is used to fasten two different metals together. The cladding is used in a variety of industries to improve the surface and near surface properties of metal, which had become worn through use. Cladding primarily involves creating a new layer on the base metal, which helps in changing properties of the base metal by creating a thin surface layer on it. Each of the different cladding techniques used has its characteristics in terms of process compatibility, cost, materials used, and the quality of the clad layer.
