摘 要：The International Air Transport Association (IATA) recorded a 5.4% expansion of global demand in international markets, a slightly faster rate than domestic travel with 4.9%. The strongest overall growth, domestic and international combined, was recorded by carriers in the Middle East of 11.4% followed by the Asia-Pacific with 7.1%, Latin America 6.3% and Africa 5.2%. The average share prices of six Asia-Pacific airlines tracked by Mergent climbed by 2.88% in the six months from July 1, 2013 to December 31, 2013. Airlines continued to invest in service innovations, while strictly controlling unit operating costs to keep air travel affordable. Airlines saw acquisitions and alliances as a means of extending their networks, strengthening their competitiveness and bolstering their financial positions.
