The use of 3D glasses has gained popularity over the years with the growth of the media and entertainment industries. In 1838, Sir Charles Wheatstone developed the first 3D viewing device called stereoscope by applying the principals of stereopsis. The stereoscope was a flat board fitted with mirrors and lenses and was enhanced by removing mirrors to make the view easier through lenses. This resulted in a device called lenticular scope, which was the first portable 3D viewing device.
