摘 要:The Li-ion battery is the fastest growing battery segment in the rechargeable battery market. Liion batteries have become more common in electronic devices such as laptops, smart phones, notebooks, and tablets because of high energy density and high charge and discharge rate capabilities. These batteries consists of one or more generating compartments called cells. Each cell consists of three components; a positive electrode (cathode), negative electrode (anode), and an electrolyte between them. The cathode is made from a chemical compound, such as lithium cobalt oxide or LiFePO4. The anode is made up of carbon (graphite) and the electrolyte varies according to battery type. During charging, lithium ions from the cathode move through the electrolyte to reach the anode and remain there. The battery stores energy during this process. When the battery is discharging, the lithium ions move back across the electrolyte to the cathode. During charging/discharging, electrons flow around the outer circuits. Electrons do not pass directly through the electrolyte, as it is an effective insulating barrier.
