    It is very important to obtain an ideal basic shape with optimal aerody namic characteristics in the auto-body styling design based on the whole shape optimization.Through obtaining the solutions for conflict problem in the auto-body styling aerodynamic design cooperating extension engineering, a variable cross-section method based on aero dynamic theoretical model to obtain ideal basic shape for car body is proposed.A theory model based on aerodynamics is developed.In addition, a generation method for a series of ideal basic bodies with favorable aerodynamic characteristics is developed, which enables the generation of these basic bodies by a variable cross-section method.This method is finally realized and it is shown in the evaluation that it is a new way for the auto-body styling design based on whole shape optimization.

    Based on the research of the CAN/LIN bus communication protocol,an automobile lamps diagnostic system based on the CAN/LIN bus is designed.After the completion of the software and hardware designs of CAN nodes,LIN nodes and CAN/LIN nodes,the faults of automobile lamps can be successfully diagnosed.LIN node collects light switches and the gateway controls the car light's status via detecting the data frame on the LIN bus.The design and complementation of CAN node,LIN node and CAN/LIN gateway was finished,which made it possible to detect failures in vehicle.

  • 54.电动汽车双速传输齿轮接触的有限元分析

    The main content of gear design is the strength design, and the contact strength design of gears is the main heart of the strength design, because the stress and deformation of gears directly affect their safety and service life and concern whether vehicle transmissions work smoothly. Therefore it is necessary to perform a finite element analysis for the gear contact in transmission. Based on the contact characteristic of helical gears, a three-dimensional solid model was established by using the software Pro/E, and the contact stress analysis of gears was carried out by the software ANSYS Workbench. The stress and strain distribution contours of helical gears were obtained , and then the check of strength and rigidity was performed. Thus, it is convenient for designers both to test the strength of gears and to modify the size of gears.

    At present,the traffic engineering and automation have developed,and the vehicle license plate recognition technology need get a corresponding improvement also.In case of identifying a car license picture,the principle of automatic license plate recognition is illustrated in this paper,and the processing is described in detail which includes the pre-processing,the edge extraction,the license plate location,the character segmentation,the character recognition.The program implementing recognition is edited by Matlab.The example result shows that the recognition method is feasible,and it can be put into practice.

    The LRT system in Denver, Colorado, connects the downtown with neighborhoods to the North, but primarily stretches southwards, travelling in existing transportation corridors carrying freeways and a heavy rail system. Outside of the downtown areas, the siting of the LRT system alongside the rigid infrastructure that comprises the heavy rail system and the freeway systems severely inhibits pedestrian accessibility to the transit system. To help further understand how the level of accessibility varies across the system, a systematic pedestrian level-of-service index for each station within the system was created that takes into account the formal, as well as informal street networks. This inaccessibility is highly likely to limit the potential that this system may have to generate development near station located that is fully integrated with the LRT system. Primary data collected by surveying households across the metropolitan area revealed very little difference between car ownership rates and weekly VMT of survey respondents living within 12- mile of an LRT station and elsewhere in the metropolitan area. Differentiating between those station areas that were Park-and-Ride (that is, had a park-and-ride lot) versus Walk-and-Ride showed a more nuanced picture. Residents who live in Walk-and-Ride stations do have have lower VMT than those who live in Park-and-Ride station areas and those who do not live near an LRT station. This reinforces the fact that development needs to be more fully integrated with the LRT system in order to achieve some intended goals such as less dependence on automobiles.

    Hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and battery electrics are conservatively estimated to reach a 5 percent national car park by 2030. Drastic increases in the price of gasoline resulting from oil shocks or major shifts in national energy and environmental policy, however, may push Electric Vehicles (EV) quickly beyond this small share. Should such critical changes occur, EVs will be poised to move beyond their current niche to gain wider scale acceptance and integration into transportation and energy infrastructure. EV battery technology has not improved to the degree needed to achieve the same range mobility as conventionally fueled vehicles. Electric powertrain hybridization and incorporation of regenerative systems such as braking and flywheels are steadily, but only incrementally, improving EV fuel efficiency and range performance. New Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) regulations in the next decade may drive the light-weighting or downsizing of some vehicle categories to achieve more aggressive fuel economy requirements, especially absent a breakthrough in vehicle battery technology. Light-weighting for battery electrics may be critical. Studies indicate that if primary vehicle mass is reduced between 40-59 percent, battery size and cost may be cut by nearly half without reductions in performance.

  • 59.利用高分辨率探测器数据改善高速公路交通速度估计

    In this project, we developed an innovative methodology to solve a long-standing traffic engineering problem, i.e. measuring traffic speed using data from single inductive loop detectors. Traditionally, traffic speeds are estimated using aggregated detector data with a manually calibrated effective vehicle length. The calibration effort (usually through running probe vehicles), however, is time consuming and costly. Instead of using aggregated data, in this project, our data collection system records every vehicle-detector actuation 'event' so that for each vehicle we can identify the time gap and the detector occupation time. With such high-resolution 'event-based' data, we devised a method to differentiate regular cars with longer vehicles. The proposed method is based on the observation that longer vehicles will have longer detector occupation time. Therefore, we can identify longer vehicles by detecting the changes of occupation time in a vehicle platoon. The 'event-based' detector data can be obtained through the implementation of the SMART-Signal (Systematic Monitoring of Arterial Road Traffic Signals) system, which was developed by the principal investigator and his students in the last five years. The method is tested using the data from Trunk Highway 55, which is a high-speed arterial corridor controlled by coordinated traffic signals. The result shows that the proposed method can correctly identify most of the vehicles passing by inductive loop detectors. The identification of long vehicles will improve the estimation of effective vehicle length on roads. Consequently, speed estimation from the inductive loop detector is improved.

    When the quality of service (QoS) of an unmanned air vehicle's (UAV) communications link is poor, and the UAV is tracking a moving target, a trade- off exists between the fidelity and timeliness of information provided from the vehicle to an operator. The authors' 2011 ICCRTS paper showed that an optimal representation scheme for transmitting information from UAV to operator can be found by using information theory. This paper extends that work by introducing an adaptive, autonomous UAV command and control system that autonomously changes the fidelity of information communicated to an operator in response to variances in communications QoS. Results and analysis of hardware-in-the-loop experiments using a UAV that is tracking a moving car are presented. The paper also examines the impact of information decay and network performance on both human tele-operation and on-board autonomous control, comparing the relative performance of tele-operation and autonomy as a function of entropic drag, which is a measurement, in information theory 'bits,' of the rate at which information is lost due to unpredictable changes in the environment. In the experiments described in this paper, entropic drag is produced by the movement of the vehicle being tracked.
