Norway rejected European Union (EU) membership in 1994, though the country opened its market along EU lines in early 1998 and has since developed its telecom sector in harmony with its economic partners. The country’s telecom market has kept pace with its advanced Scandinavian neighbours, Denmark, Finland and Sweden. Broadband and mobile penetration rates are both high by European standards.
