Consumer network attached storage (NAS) follows the general principles of NAS, wherein a computer storage server is connected to a computer network and functions as a file server, delivering files and data to various parts of the network. In a consumer NAS system, the endpoints of the network are personal devices or home devices such as personal computers, Blu-ray or digital versatile disk (DVD) players, media players, and home theater systems. Consumer NAS systems can be used in various applications, like storing downloaded files. The end-users of consumer NAS are business users and residential (home) users.
