Generators are devices that convert mechanical energy into electrical energy. An internal combustion engine makes use of either diesel, gasoline, propane gas, or natural gas to produce mechanical energy, which is then converted into electrical energy with the help of a generator assembly. Because generators are designed to provide temporary AC or DC power, they serve as sources of backup or emergency power for use in residential, commercial, and industrial applications. A fuel engine powers a conventional generator.
