In the second quarter of 2018 the revenue of China’s rubber products sector contracted by 24.7% y/y
to RMB 220.3bn, as a result of the decline in production and sales volumes. In this period, the sales
revenue of the largest subsector – tyres – shrank by 26.5% y/y to RMB 119.4bn. The respective
revenues of the second and third largest subsectors - rubber plate, hose & belting, and rubber
accessories - went down by 21.4% y/y and 22% y/y, totalling RMB 29.3bn and RMB 19.8bn.

The value chain of farm tires market is characterized by the presence of raw material
manufacturers/suppliers, tire manufacturers, suppliers/distributors, and end users.
The major raw material used in tire manufacturing is rubber – natural as well as synthetic. Liquid latex
is mixed with acids which causes the raw rubber to solidify. Other raw materials involved in
manufacturing tires include carbon black, which is obtained from crude oil or natural gas; sulfur; and
several other chemicals.
Rubber and carbon black providers form the first stage of the value chain. Rubber suppliers are mainly
companies involved in the production of tire and other rubber products. Some of these raw material
suppliers include Sinopec Corporation, SIBUR, JSR Corporation, and Cabot Corporation. Suppliers sign
long-term contracts with those involved in the manufacturing of tires to ensure constant demand while
tire manufacturers sign long-term contracts with raw materials suppliers to ensure a constant supply.

By the process of its production, the plastic film products could be divided into three types - plastic film produced through the process of blown film, plastic film produced through the process of cast film/sheet and plastic film which is produced through the process of oriented polypropylene (OPP) or biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film and PET film. While plastic film which is produced through the process of blown film include PE (LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE) film. Currently, there are five producers of plastic BOPP film operating in Indonesia with a total production capacity of 310,500 tons per year; and six producers of BOPET film with a total production capacity of 106.000 tons per year. The business competition in BOPP film as well as in BOPET film industry is toght in the country.
